I need a Wales fix. I love Wales.
I am not posting the route because I have paranoia.
Lots of Llyn's
Start will be Aust Services and there will be a lot of miles, i.e. a very full day
I am planning one offroad section, but mostly road riding
Good weather,, Sunday ride only.....soon
Anyone interested? When ?

Hello Paul...

I might be interested in coming along, not really fussed about dates.

OK Ben, Lets watch the weather over the next week or so. No concrete dates yet, but most likely a Sunday I'd like to repeat a fabulous offroad section, and need a buddy and know that you can do it:D

I might be up for a bimble.

But it all depends on when and if i'm working.

Yes, i need a Wales fix too:thumb

OK Brian
p.s. I have a new twat suit to try... it was apparently reserved by your mate :D

Is it the Yellow one?

wait till i tell him now...:tears:comfort

:D

It'll be Sunday 17th, 24th or 31st June
Can anyone interested pm your mobile numbers so we can set dates nearer the time to suit everyone?
(Brian can you pull a spark plug or Ill be too slow for you?!!)

Still no date yet, just watching the weather and will confer with two riders who confirmed..
There'll probably be a late morning breakfast after a 'snow run' type route to The West End Cafe, then Llyn Brianne, and either Abergwesyn of Strata direction to the Elan Valley. Then return leg via The Gospel Pass

Somewhere amongst that lot will be a novice byway route, i.e. not Strata Florida . Soon

Hi Paul, i wouldn't mind coming along on this one if thats ok? I was out out with yourself, Ben and Mike last year on the practice run for the BMW weekend. I can't make this Sunday but the other dates should be fine.

Cheers Shaun

Possibly four so far and we'll communicate and discuss routes by p.m. and I'll txt when this ride is a goer :D

Hi Paul

This all looks good to me, and i love it at Llyn Brianne. But i've never done the Elan yet.
I was also thinking of taking my gas stove to make a brew.:thumb2

As for when? i cant do this Sunday, but following Sunday or the 31st looks possible.

I'll watch this space then.

Cheers
Bri

Devil's Staircase... I'm there tomorrow. Easier to ride up than ride down.
Have a blast!

I was there today. Now have a very sun burnt face. I know, sunshine in Wales!

Went up the Devil's staircase, over the top, down the steep bendy bit and took the sharp left with the signs at the bottom, followed that road along then went over the bridge to Soar something. When you get to the telephone box in the middle of nowhere, you've just gone passed a turn to the right that will take you back to the left turn mentioned earlier. There's narrow track and fun to be had including a 180 hairpin on a step downhill. I hit that as a Land Rover was in the middle of it. That was interesting.

You have completely lost me with your description there Lamble
Which direction are you heading in on this map?
Is it "This way ort hat way or that way" as per your website..... I do like your website vid

Taking North as being the top of the map, from the X head west down the slope to where the road branches, head south. Travel along there until you see the bridge on the right, take that bridge then you'll double back on yourself, returning to the point where the road branched. It's a pointless detour, other than it's just nice riding, and that after all is the point.

Glad you like the video. I tend not to film much actual riding, as a road isn't always the best thing, it tends to be more what happens when you get off the bike. Take a look at the podcasts, that's the sort of thing I mean. Although there is some riding footage in China and a bit in Guatemala too I think, oh and defo in el Salvador out of the town and out of the crater. It's all ad libbed, even the stuff in the chair, so excuse me if it's garbled twaddle, I tend to think that way.

Eight riders now and there is enthusiasm for another byway, so we'll be doing two, but still primarily a road ride with a 'Show us your stove' stop on a greenlane in the middle of nowhere for a brew up
Room for two or three more and ride will be on 24th or 31st with txt message communication.i.e. I need mobile no's :D

I realise that you guys are from the epicentre of the clotted cream and scone world, however, for a cuppa and scone , stop at Pennau. It's on the road down towards Llandovery from the Dam. What the woman does is, spreads jam on the scone base, adds a copious amount of cream, then jams up the top of the scone. The double jamming and creaming is so you can cut through the middle of the cream, then jam and cream both parts. It's a small detail that makes a dolllop of difference. It's also better value than the West End Cafe biker rip off joint.

aye indeed, some of us are Cream Tea connoisseurs. However, this purveyor of tasty pastries in Pennau, sounds like its worth checking out.

Thanks for the heads up.

I can visualise the thick clotted cream now, but the only reference to Pennau that I can find is near Aberystwith, which is a very long way off our route
Lamble can you look at the map . and right clip and copy the link to show us where this sumptuous cream tea is?

(I use this map because the web address contains the British National Grid waypoint, which works with Garmin, after a little adjustment. Very useful for byway mapping.)
