Planning a bit of a trip and started to consider the possible use of a jump start connector kit.

Then I thought it might be possible to make something simple up myself that connects to the terminals on the battery and comes out somewhere in a weatherproof 'break out box' of sorts.

the bike is an R1150GS with ABS if that helps

Any reason why I shouldn't do this? I'm not really that hot on electrics... I guess I'd need the right thickness cable.

Alternatively does someone know of a good / cheap supply of the BMW kit?

Sorted - thanks chaps...

While we're at it (and your thread is done) could you make your sig pics slightly larger please??

I understand H.R.H Oonyack is having difficulty reading the smallprint from his hotel bedroom window ;) :dabone

Can do :thumb

Double size - or larger?

(I do sometimes forget I've got a large screen... is this sort of size better?)

If you need to jump start the bike, just connect the jump lead to the starter motor live terminal, and the earth to any earth point on the bike i.e. footrest/gearchange.

Only needs one bolt to remove the stater cover.

You are - of course - quite right. Thanks Steptoe. Obvious when you know how...

Watch you don't lose the rubber bushes from the cover mounting pins. You will have to ride it a bit with the cover off to charge the batt and exhaust pipe will be a bit hot to let you refit the cover.....damhik...use a bit of fuel pipe to make new bushes if required.
