I'm about to buy an Antigravity Micro-Start XP-1, but I'm aware they've been around for a while and wondered if anyone has found an equally good/safe one in a smaller or better package.
Also, some useful info from the UK arm of Antigravity in reply to my query about the best size to reliably start the 1200 boxer:
The Sport will Definitely “NOT” start a big twin motorcycle, I wouldn’t even recommend the XP-3 for any Boxer or big V Twin engine. The smallest unit that i would recommend would be an XP-1.
There seems to have been an oversight on our website which I will get rectified straight away. We do try to encourage potential customers to contact us before purchasing our products in order to avoid this sort of misunderstanding.
We’ve been selling the XP-1 to a couple of Specialist BMW dealers and part suppliers for some time now and the feedback that we get is that they work just fine. For some unknown reason the XP-3 can struggle on occasions even though it is labelled as the same starting power. As we need the product to be reliable in it’s use and be able to cover all eventualities, I would rather only recommend something that will work all the time. The XP-3 is fine on large in line multi cylinder engines but I have my reservations about it’s use on the big V twin and horizontally opposed engines.
At this point, I'll mention that the honesty and clarity of this response is enough to convince me that the service of these guys is good enough to win me over, but just thought I'd make the final check with the knowledge of the forum.
