Jumped from BMW

Interested in your experience with the Evotech engine protectors - are they the bobbin/mushroom type? Did you ever test them?

Yes they are the Bobbin/mushroom type, I had this type fitted to a 950S Multistrada and dropped it while loaded for a trip overseas whilst walking the bike backwards on an off camber pavement the sidestand was down at the time and it struck ground and over she went, the actual bobbin was scratched and a handguard got broken but that was the only damage, Evo Tech sell replacement bobbins, I rather hope I don't have the misfortune to put the current set to the test to find out if they are as effective.

Thanks.
The product info says "Note: Once the Evotech Performance crash protection has been installed the Ducati adjustable air deflectors can not be fully opened." Did you find that was a problem?

I've yet to find out I haven't fitted them to the new bike yet, my previous V4S didn't have the adjustable air deflectors, I will update once I have fitted them.

ok. I just looked at the pictures on the 24MY page and it looks like the bobbin blocks the lower duct.

That is indeed the case, as the upper and lower ducts are operated by the same hinge mechanism both ducts are inoperable, looking at it I feel it may be possible to trim the lower duct slightly to clear the mounting hardware of the crash bobbins and restore some functionality to the ducts, a job for another time but I will give it a go.

Broke my 1250 ultimate , then broke the 1300 gs , now back with the Ducati , for me the best decision. It’s not an easy one as the Gs has always been my choice , but after the falling assistance from BMW I chose to go back , and the correct decision it is as the V4s is a success in all aspects .

Yep - jumped ship after 13 years and numerous i4s and boxers (8 in total).

2025 V4S Travel, Radar, Sport.

Arrives next week

Bellissimo.
Congratulations! I think it makes sense. It is certainly a bike high up on my currently very short list.

They say that Ducatis should really be red. However, I think that looks really good - and I've always had a hankering for a yellow Multistrada :D

The white looks smashing. I cannot have anything red, including bikes, for reasons of football tribalism. But I think my mates (and wife!) would let me off with one of these.

Just a shame I cannot afford to change!

I jumped ship this year but from a 1250RT to 950S Supersport in White. Don't regret it for a second. Better finished, higher quality bike imho and a lot more fun to ride. The step down in engine size to a "mere" 950 doesn't bother me at all because it pulls as hard as the RT and is quicker overall, thanks to being as light as a feather by comparison. It also out handles it, and the 1250 GS, out brakes both and is very comfortable for all day rides. I miss not having a touring bike but my back now says "no" to the extra weight. Tried a 1260 Enduro V4 and didn't like it but that was a good few years back. The newer multi V4's are fabulous. Electronics are really well sorted and integrated and as others have said, suspension I reckon betters BMW as does the handling. Makes my old GSA1200 seem like a dinosaur. The weight was a little too much for my damaged back otherwise I'd have had a newer V4 in a heartbeat. Fabulous bikes. As for range, the standard V4 Multi still betters my V2...I actually have tank range envy only achieving 160 mile range on mine but am grateful for the breaks every few hours ride anyway so it doesn't bother me much.

Went for a quick very early morning ride (0530) this morning.

The bike is still tight - only 150 km.

Couple of comments:

As per the manual, after the first start from cold, I move off straight away, take it easy and let the engine warm. You certainly know that the engine is cold...very visceral.

The engine tends to vibe around 4000 RPM - above and below that it is fine. The vibes aren't bad, just noticeable....BUT, after about 20 mins when the engine is fully warm (I assume), they disappear (or get a lot better).

The engine does run a bit hot. I can feel it through the seat after about 30 mins. It isn't bad, just.....there.

I assume that this improves with time/distance? The demo I rode had about 1200 km and was fine.

It handles really well. Turns and stops much better than the GS.

The sound track is magnificent. I often open my visor at lights, and moving off is an aural pleasure.
:lol3

Looks lovely and this switch to Ducati is something I will do at some stage.

I’ve ridden several and always found them hot. Too hot actually. But I’m prepared to grin and bear it. 😀

Enjoy the new bike bud.

Ducati moved to just 5 mins walk from my house. Only had one ducati before and that was a classic so decided it was time I owned a modern one.
However, i could not find one in the packed showroom I liked.
The scrambler was physically too small. The monster had bars too low, the desert x felt top heavy to me. The Multistrada just looked big and plastic.
I'd still like a Ducati at some point but they don't make a bike I like.
I bought an R12 G/S instead. Shame no bmw dealers close like ducati are

Good to hear you’re enjoying the V4, the engine does loosen up with more miles I’ve found response improves as does mpg, they do run on the warm side I’ve found a mesh type seat cover helps isolate you from the heat of the motor without feeling remote or detached from the bike. When you’ve added a few more miles and had it serviced and start extending the motor a bit more you are in for a treat, the intake roar is fantastic 👌🇮🇹

Here she is. Very different to the GS.... :D

I used to think that I didn't like white Ducatis but that looks really good :thumby:

After a succession of BMWs, I'm on my second V4 Multistrada - first an S, now a Rally. You'll never get the BMW mob to accept it but I have to say that I think that neither the GS1300, nor the GSA1300 can hold a candle to the latest Multistradas. They do everything a GS/GSA can do - possibly even better - but then they go like an S1000XR.

What's not to like?

Oh - and before all the abuse starts, I still have a GS in the garage and I still ride and like it. It's no Multistrada though...

:D

I just watched some chap from Knox UK test the V4s, he said he was getting 140m max out of the tank. That can’t be right?
