Looking at the cheap british army jungle bags (think similar to the snugpak lite)

at 10 sterling they are stupidly cheap.

I was looking getitng something cheap as going use mmy current tent as dont have money get a slightly smaller one and realised my own sleeping bag is massie even packed up

so was going go for a jungle bag, silk liner, some sort mat and in cold weather a set lidl passion killers (thermals)

had seen on here some where that someone said they used 2 jungle bags on inside the other in very cold weather.

i dont camp alot so dont want spend alot on items thay dont get used and be lot of a waste

anyone see issue with my setup

Rather than using a second sleeping bag, you may wish to consider a micro fleece liner. They're pretty cheap and have quite a small pack size. I used one along with a summer bag on a recent trip down the Pyrenees and it kept me warm enough.

i take it a cheap summer bag (like army one) plus 2 small lines, one silk and one fleece would make a nice all round single bag option for different times of year

I think the one I bought was from the local Trespass store and it cost me about 15 quid.

Layers are great because they give you versatility for all weathers.

But when it's nippy and you're using all 3, and you get up for a Gypsy's in the middle of the night, and you try getting back into three different bags plus zips, all whilst lying on your back in the dark....

If you're going to do much colder stuff at all, think before you go with a multi-layer solution.

Having said that, a snugpack pile shirt, worn at night, will increase the thermal value of your solution quite considerably, without all the tangling issues. And of course it's your warm layer during the day, too.

Handy tip- wear socks when using a microfleece liner as the hard bits on your feet catch the material.

thanks for tips,

not sure yet what way to go as 3 layers can end up costing me as much as 1 3 season bag

i ould rather a sumer bag that can add to make warm than trying make winderbag cooler in summer

There is nothing worse than being cold in a tent, I've been frozen to the core here in the UK mid July, when its been hot during the day too.
I never go without a hot water bottle nowadays, may sound sissy, but believe you me it keeps you snug and warm
A friend of mine always takes two hot water bottles plus a flask of hot water. That way when the first bottle is starting to cool down he can quickly fill the second bottle with hot water.
A good pair of thermal socks will also go a long way to help.
I only use a vango two season bag, like toast with a hot water bottle and cool enough if the weather is balmy and hot at night.
