I get about 80 junk mails a day which FSMail (Wanadoo) detect and put in my Junk Mail folder. Each day I need to delete these. My problem is that if I'm away for a week or two, the incoming junk mails clog up the system so I cannot then get any 'proper' emails. Is there a solution? Is simply deleting these junk mails sufficient or should I highlight them as 'Spam' before deleting?

There should be an option somewhere to automatically delete stuff classified as spam from time to time. Most Webmail providers do something like this.
 
Yep, there is a facility to delete automatically every seven days but at 80 spams a day that's 560 in a week, and that would seize up my emails.
