Just bought myself a Mac computer

A little niggle is why my mac won't recognise my iphone as a device?? Ie I wanted to up load some pictures to a very known auction site but when I plugged in my APPLE iphone to my APPLE mac I could not find it... I am a new mac user so it's probably me but the transition over is a bit challenging at times

Why not stream your iPhone to your Mac using Apple iCloud with your wifi, your photos will be transferred & saved to your hard drive without any intervention. iPad will stream too if you've got one.

When your iPhone is connected to your Mac you will find it in iTunes as a device.

Yes, I find the "Photostream'" utility linking mac computers nd any IOS device very useful.

I can take photos on my iPhone and they are automatically places in a "Photstream" folder/event/album on both my iPhone and my laptop's iPhoto. Seemless, and automatic, just as it should be.
- worth checking out

I made the switch last summer and it took me a while to convince myself I'd done the right thing. However, it is very intuitive once you've grasped the basics and got to grips with how it thinks.

Glad to see you've bought the One2One. The best 70 quid I've ever spent! Because I have relatively easy access to an Apple store I manage about one lesson a week. I keep a record on my iPad of everything I can't make it do or don't understand and then the first 10 or 15 minutes of a session is spent going through these. I also loaded Parallels so that I can run Windows. An act of (lack of) faith in the Mac. I don't use it much but it's one of those things that is great when you need it. For example, I cannot get my head round Basecamp for Mac so I've stuck with the Windows version. I alos haven't been able to find a way of shrinking the size of photos for putting on this forum on the Mac so still use IrfanView in Windows. It's not all good in my view. Programmes like Mail, iCal and Contacts are really designed for 'domestic' use. They don't measure up to Outlook for Windows IMHO.

Have fun - and use that 70 quid you spent on lessons - I reckon its made a hell of a difference to the speed that I have been able to learn at.:thumb

thats how it's supposed to work. iPhones and iPod don't appear as devices or disk drives like some do in windows.

When you connect your iPhone to your mac, the iPhone won't show up on the desktop. You will see it in iTunes and, if you use image capture, you will see all photos on your iPhone in image capture. You can then save all images to your pictures folder on your mac.

Welcome

Welcome to the mac/mad house.

Once you have the basics you will start to fly along.

Don't look for the hard way to do things, apple aren't designed that way.

Sit back with a brew and enjoy.

Loads of how to vids on you tube, also apple phone support is awesome, second to none IMHO.

Thanks for all your help, I will try image capture, and I have enabled photo back up to the cloud, I will try photo stream if I can find it

Can't use photo stream unless I get iPhoto, iPhoto costs £10.50 that's after spending a bomb on the actual system it seems mac users need deep pockets, I have emailed apple asking why it's not free as it's in the free section of apps.. Hopefully it will get sorted but it is a nice bit a kit quality wits it's like comparing a daewoo to a rolls Royce (sorry daewoo drivers)

Well we had our 1 2 1 with Apple and they were great, the hour flew by, learnt loads, forgot most of it, booked another session with them so hopefully i will remember more this time.

just set up our 6 email addresses and its now downloaded 22,540 emails:blast:blast how the feck did that happen.

i think i'm going to get someone round to sort out the email side of it and help me understand it a little more

Any Apple wizzards around Stevenage, Herts area fancy a bacon roll and a nice cup of coffee...

It's pulling them all off the server from your accounts I got three and that's bad enough, got a redeem code for iPhoto and I video very happy indeed with apples service and gelling with the mac well now
