Just fitted front Goodridge SS brake hoses to my yk2 (48,000 miles) GS1150 non abs, I knew it would be good as I have them on my 748 but was surprised just how good a transformation it was, even though I had recently changed all the fluids prior to a Pyrenees trip.

I opted for the Motorworks kit at £85 posted, as i priced up all the bits separately and came to the conclusion that for an extra £15 or so was not worth all the hassle of making up my own kit even though I had read up on the posts here.
It also IMO looks tidier with the one hose from the front brake master cylinder rather than the two I have seen fitted. Job was completed in about an hour and so simple as all fittings were there.

So if your bike is nearly ten years old give it a treat to some I can highly recommend them, going to do the back one next then the clutch one when the clutch goes:thumb2

Out of interest what difference does it make. I've got an 02 1150 with 44k and never noticed any lack of stopping power.

When I fitted them to my bike - I noticed no change in braking. But that wasn't the point of doing the job. Concern about possible failure of the originals possibly hastened by the fact my bike lives outside and is used all year round. Improvement? yes.. but only in my peace of mind.

Hi Guys

The most sudden impact is the immediate "bite" along with the feel of pulling in the lever, it's difficult to explain really until you have done the change.

I guess that is the elimination of any sponginess that would be present in a normal "aging" hose set up.

I have a top notch set up on my 748, ie Brembo billet race callipers full floating cast iron discs and brembo race master cylinder and it's eye poppingly good. I just got used to the differing braking of the GS when riding it, but now the SS hoses are on I can "feel" the difference immediately. Ps I do not brake anywhere near as aggressively on the GS as on the Duke in full flow.

Hope that goes some way to explain the transition :thumb

oh.. I got that all right - but put it down to the complete brake fluid change that was part of the overall changeover - new pads too.
