Picked up a new triple black from Park lane. Travelled to Portsmouth in torrential rain, then spent 3 days down to Bayonne, on the french B roads, and a further 2 days to Algeciras south spain on the spanish A roads, via the Ronda hills. Struggled to keep up with a few sports bikes on their Sunday jaunt on those fabulous twisties, Whereas, it would not have been a problem on the triumph.
Pros,
Excellent riding position, and pretty decent handling, in a wonderful package
Cons
Would like to see a bit more grunt from the engine and its a bit vibey. Seat was a pain in the arse for 2000kms, although i do seem to have hardened to it. Also i cant believe that switchgear is allowed on a motorcycle. Even after 2500kms, I am still struggling with it. Oh and surely in this day and age vibrations from wing mirrors can be easily resolved by manufacturers???
Nice character about the engine, although it took me 1500kms to stop mourning the back of that beauty mill in the triumph street triple
I had excellent service from the BMW shop at Bayonne and would highly recommend them, should anyone need assistance in that area. as well as a sturdy professional sales service from the guys at Park Lane.
My daily commute is now a lot less manic, almost reserved. yet still fun.
yep i will probably by another when the warranty runs out, especially if there is H2O running through its veins.
Thanks for listening Tom
