In a word no.Vario panniers come up on here from time to time BUT you have to be quick.I didn`t want the varios on mine and went for the Peli cases after trying the tin boxes. These made the bike as wide as a bus.The fitting kit came from

First of, welcome to the forum! Also enjoy your new bike!

The vario panniers are different for the 800 and 1200 Gs. So you need to makes sure you buy a set designed for the 800.

I personnaly have fitted givi trekker luggage to mine. Best bet is to keep an eye on the for sale section for vario panniers. Whilst your waiting click on the useful links section! There is a whole thread with loads of info regarding luggage.

Welcome

I spent months looking at the options for my 2011 F800GS and eventually bought odd sized metal panniers from Roger at ARD Cases. I am using a Touratech rack. One of the reasons I bought metal ones was the plastic ones are far more easily damaged. I can take my panniers when I change bike.

I bought the ARD Cases as they were highly recommended and much cheaper than the more well known ones.

No complaints about the service

I picked up the new F800GS when they came out earlier this year. An excellent bike - nice choice :beerjug:

Been through the whole pannier debate as you are now I imagine. Thing is with the Vario, if you want to get something out while they're on the bike they are side opening. Stuff will fall out. I ended up with Metal Mule and they're perfect. Tough, top opening, you can remove them easily and carry around, handles included, etc, etc. Made in UK too :thumby:

Good luck on your quest

Hello and welcome:beerjug:

great bike, I just acquired an 08 model :D

Paniers are a personal choice lotts out there, have a look in the quick link to popular threads at the top of posts in 650/700/800 GS twins

Personaly I like the varios seem to fit close to the bike and they close down to minimal..... but prefer Ali top loaders :D

enjoy :beerjug:

That's why I use the pannier liners with my Varios.

I went through all the options when choosing mine. I don't like riding with panniers when not needed. The Varios go on and off in seconds, and there's virtually nothing to see when they're off. Also, the rh Vario is big enough for a flip front lid when extended.

Yep, good point. That's something the Aly cases won't give you. On the other-hand most Aly luggage rails will survive a fall and help protect the bike. Guess it depends what you're going to be getting up to.
