I'd ridden one a couple of weeks ago for half an hour, and liked it, but this weekend had 3 hours on an 800GS, and a couple of hours on the Tiger XC.

TBH, I really wanted to prefer the GS, as I'm a total BM nut, but just preferred the Tiger in every way. IMO, the Tiger looks much nicer, is much more responsive, less vibey, and generally a better place to be.

So, with this in mind, after much negotiating, I've bitten the bullet, and ordered the following:

2011 Triumph Tiger 800XC ABS
Phantom Black
Triumph engine bars
Triumph sump guard
Triumph adventure fog lights
Centre stand
Gel tank pad
Adventure tail bag
Front mudguard extension
Radiator guard

It's in stock with Triumph, so should be here early next week, then pdi and hopefully mine by next weekend.:JB

Then it's off to Touratech for more farkles!:beerjug:

What do you think of the bike now after a couple of weeks living with it? been considering one of these.

I'm enjoying looking at it!:D I broke my wrist 3 weeks ago, so haven't been able to ride it yet!:blast

Will report back once I've broken her in.:beerjug:

In answer to your question, all is good no problems.

Only things I don't like are the panniers (Jesse is the way to go) and the fuel light come on way to early, still have a good 50 miles still in it.

So what is the actual tank range? will it cruise happily at 85/90 with out too many vibes etc.

140 miles to the light then about 50 more, some get 160 to light.

Vibes what are they ? it's a triumph :blast

very happy at 85 = 6000 revs

The only trouble I have is trying to remember (to lazy to look at the dash) what gear it's in just as well it will pull any gear at any revs.

Yes, I should imagine that is quite a physical work out! :blast

Sorry to say your wrong yet again, when did you ride a 800 Triumph ? Things move on unlike you.

You said "Vibes what are they? Its a Triumph" suggesting that Triumphs don't vibrate and that your comments were not specific to the 800. Triumphs do vibrate. Fact.

As for moving on, why would I want to go back to a company that gave me an inferior product and even worse customer service? That isn't moving on.

Would you happily spend thousands of pounds on a product, find it is built poorly and has numerous issues and then discover the company you bought it from won't sort out the issues and give poor service? Would you then go back to them a few years later and spend more of your hard earned?

I think it would go Happy, pissed off, and no never again :thumb2

unless they sorted out the middle bit now thats service :D :thumb

That is service to me too. If things go wrong with a product the measure of good service, to me, is how it is sorted out. In an ideal world it wouldn't go wrong in the first place, but man built things are never going to be perfect. So if they step up to the plate, accept responsibility and sort things out then that is the measure of a good company, how they respond when things don't go right.

I had more problems with my two Triumphs than I have had with all my BMW's combined. But MGJ seems to think I should "move on" and consider buying again from a company that gave me crap service. That wouldn't be moving on, that would be stupidity.

No bob not asking you to buy one far from it. What I'm saying maybe triumph have improved since you had one maybe not.

Thats all

From what I have seen and heard that is not the case. They still have the same people in the warranty department at the factory with the same attitudes. A number of Triumphs I have looked at have shown a finish which is not up to the claims that the factory make of how well built they are.

Their instructions in the handbook to the owner to wash the bike after every ride to maintain the warranty are totally impractical as well as farcical.

Tell me MGJ, if you had bought a motorcycle from a manufacturer which had given you problems, which the manufacturer/importer refused to rectify and effectively told you to get stuffed, would you seriously consider buying from them again?
