Has anyone had more than one new engine after replacement for paint/corrosion issues ?

There's obviously a reason for the question !!

I have had 2 replacements Bike is on its 3rd engine ;-)

What's the reason for inquiry?

Look on the bright side. Maybe this time you'll get a black one!

I was in Allan Jefferies swanky new showroom this afternoon and there were a few used bikes with black engines which had scabby paint

My eight month old replacement engine and driveshaft are corroding again, but I'm not hopeful of getting a replacement on a three year old bike, especially when so many BMW approved used bikes have scabby engines

I have to be fair to them, Allan Jefferies have always been great with me .....

I notice you can get the non brownie colours with a silver engine, wonder if they have now sorted the corrosion issues out ?

I feel u r pain to!

My bike is going for it's 600 Mile service Wednesday on its 1st replacement engine? Due to work I have been away for 3 months got back Saturday and got her out to do the last 200 miles!

Best bit is I have never washed her only BMW have done that as they had it back in 3 times due to various issue, I picked her up with 370 miles road her home in the dry and a good old lick of fs365 on deform I went away?

Well you an imagine when I wheeled her out on sat to find all the joins covered in corrosion! Wtf gutted!

Just out of interest, whats the best paint to use if you are going to do a DIY patch up job on your engine casing? Ive got a few patches on the right hand casing by the dip stick on my F650 GS twin that need a little attention

Just picking up on StevieJ's post about his replacement engine corroding after such short notice having sprayed it with fs365. I don't know if there's any coincidence but my 2014 model was spotless for corrosion, up until I tried fs365 on it. I was quick to the bolt heads and things but the finish on the front shock was ruined. Admittedly it was a pretty bad mix of salt slush on the road that day, but I never had it before, and usually just douse the bike in WD40 or red and black canned alternative (can't remember the name). I know other people swear by the fs365 but I can't say as I'll be using it on my bike again.

Since I got a replacement engine, swingarm and final drive unit replaced over 2 years ago and 17000 miles, I have no corrosion at all.

I wash the bike with car shampoo, dry with compressed air and give everything a spray and wipe over with GT85. Seems to do the trick for me.
