Not at all although some of the doomsters on here would make you think otherwise. Fourth GS and no issues, must be luck of the Irish.

June 08 12GS, currently on 10,000 miles:
new ring antenna at 3,750m
new rear shock "
brake line fracture at 6,500m (during my IAM test), resulting in
new engine crank case
new gearbox (damaged gearbox cover not available separately)
new rear subframe
new swingarm bearings
Bike now booked in for new rear LED light cluster (the original one is letting in water).
Great bike, cr*p quality, great warranty. Having a good dealer helps!
Either I'm unlucky, or I ride too much

Me thinks 20000 MILES is a wee bit more than 20000km in fact some 11000 km more

June '07 bike...GS ADV currently 25K+ miles smooth as a babys a#*......
Antenna ring changed at compaign,computer update,new battery fitted after failure less than 1year,fuel pump driver failure at 23K replaced under warranty.
Bike runs so smooth @4-45000 rpms.
Valves settled in nicely,last 2 checks the valves were pretty much dead nuts on needing no adjustments,throttle sync almost perfect too.
Brake pads still plenty of life,since 22K added less than 100ml of oil.
Just regular maintenence,gas,and GOOOOO!
