Binned me bike down the road 4 days after getting it back.:mad:black ice and guess what it''s done the final drive drive casing.a part from that not much damage.

I feel for you.... Can't help thinking you won't be the only one over the next few months as it's gonna be a tough winter for us all year bikers.

I hoping "eyes peeled and easy does it" will get me through another winter

Not wanting to profit from your misfortune, but have an fd for sale in for sale and wanted if you are interested......

must admit only been off twice in 26 years the first being when i was 16 on me RD 125 ypvs and that was my fault.and today.just on my way up to vines now to see what the damage is insurance need a quote.

My mate knows good repairer who can repair and re spray housing brilliant match wont know its done only problem is in huddersfield but you might find one near but proves it can be done and it only cost him £130.00 much cheaper than new final drive and did not involve insurance claim.

The thing is it's a brand new drive 6 days old so any repair work would feck me warrenty.

Autogs it was on nuttfield marsh rd behind my place i mean not even 1/2 mile away.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune.

Got me wondering though, would the damage have been avoided if you had fitted one of the crash protecters that bolt into the bottom pivot?

I believe R & G and other manufacturers make them.

If any good I might invest in one.

Anyone had any experience or an opinion?

Pete.

Feeling sore today.feels like someone me a kicking.

Was your 'ice-alert' working?

Most of last week my ice alert (which works below 3° I think) was winking; Then I try and avoid any part of the road that look at all black or damp (impossible at night) and get home carefully as soon as i can.

I did not intend to imply that you were careless - we have all committed similar faults; But at least you are spreading the warning and you are unlikely to repeat this error.
