Fancy a flip front helment, anyone got one of these, seem very good value, but about 150g heavier than the more expensive ones,

Comments please.

Gary.

Presently using an Arai Quantum F, 6 years old, comfort nows its all nicely bedded in!!

someone....

was it Whatton? Fanum?
doh!
dunno now. (and i owe them an apology:( ) got one at a show / it didnt fit and i nearly bought it. medium size and white with the bits to convert to an open face.
they are a good lid.
BUT i borrowed my Sons and found the seat belt type fastener nearly throttled me and anyhow - i was relying on a few bob owed to me which never came through - so i didnt buy it.
they were asking €160 / or i think £100 earth money.
hope thats some help.
Og.
(do a search - theres a lot of info here about them...but no - i couldnt find the original thread about this one for sale of course.)
:)

Got one last year to go with my Arai, figured it would be cooler on hot days and handy at border crossings etc. Just flip the front when hanging around or on trails and no need to keep taking it on and off, just flip the front.
Got to say it worked fine in all those circumstances, not as comfy as the Arai though.

Then it rained, absolutly useless!! Water runs down the inside of the visor like a bloody waterfall and vision is almost non existant.

I've since discovered that they used 2 diferent types of visor seal, one works one doesn't. I have been told that they will supply the modified seal free of charge so if that's the case, and it works, then all in all it's not a bad lid.
Oh, and the flip down sun glasses are prety cool:D

FWIW..............
These flip front things are noticeably heavier than a standard full face of equal quality. Flip fronts have their merits but a lighter lid is more comfortable on those longer jaunts. I can`t remember the exact figures but when I compared my ancient Shoei to a new flip up Schuberth I found that the Shoei was nearly a third lighter! Something like 1.5Kg against 1.0Kg (don`t quote that, my memory`s bad  ). That`s makes a big difference to your neck muscles with all that wind and all those liversavers.
:helmet :GS

love mine

i got mine shortly after they came on sale, so ive had it for a good few years now, ridden for hours through torential rain and never had a problem with leaks. the internal sun visor is great, no more messing with sun glasses or switching visors. the only bad thing i found on mine which is now rectified on new models was visor misting, they now have anti fog visors. one of the most comfortable helmets i have ever owned in 16 years of riding. the weight has never been an issue for me. graet helmet
