K&N Air Filter on GS1100

I've just fitted a K&N air filter to my 1100 and it has virtually stopped the popping and backfiring. The bike is fitted with a Leo Vince exhaust and a Laser Chip.
The fuel economy seems to be the same as using the original set up, approx: 180 Miles/tank flat out or 200-230 Miles ridden sedately.

just install and go you will notice an immediate difference,do the rocker shaft end float,valve clearances,balance the throttle bodies just refines the package.As the engine can draw air through the filter much easyer it gives the same power for less effort= better mpg,in normal conditions filter should not need cleaning for 60000 miles according to the blurb on the box,
i also use platignum tipped plugs from motobins they were allready installed
so i dont know if they effect the outcome i think the filter was about £45.00 from nippy's

There are also several shops selling them on fleabay for under £30.

Ditched my K&N and sold it on here after noticing the crap "downwind" of the filter after a Moroccan trip - They aren't so efficent at filtering the crap as a standard filter. Try a search for more info from others.

Interesting report! I seem to recall an old set of tests in Bike magazine, early 90's, which eventually suggested that stock is best but replace it frequently. I wonder how much of the performance claims noted ( in general, not particularly in this thread) are from having a clean filter installed of any sort!
