Hi Guys,

I am currently sprucing up my '91 R100GS for the summer - (Full restoration really :augie) and I've been considering doing away with the Airbox and replacing it with a pair of K&N Cone filters. (Not attached directly to the Carbs, as they'd be in the way - linked by some sexy silicone tubing.)
What effect would this have on the bike? If none, then I won't do it!

I'd really appreciate any hints or tips. :)

Cheers,

Jonesybop

It won't make it better :(

Increased induction noise. (It'll sound like it's going quicker :D)
Inferior filtering -better airflow means bigger holes.
More susceptible to water ingress.
Rejetting carbs -probably.
Induction tube length is important.

Asked a similar question of respected BM repairers. They were of the strong opinion that the original BM system is the best -they have repaired a lot of dusted engines using "free flow"filters :(

That's my 2 bobs worth, others here will know more. :thumb

i would highly recommend you ring scriminger engineering in sleaford before you decide. Steve is the man to talk to.

these guys have the know how, and even do a conversion for oil heads to run on carbs, so give them a call,
