K1200GT

Sorry, you mean you've ordered a GT instead of the Adventure?

I don't really need a bike with off-road capability, which is why I was looking at the GT.

GT Fueling/throttle issues being taken seriously at BMW at last

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Having had my 600 service (a few eeks ago) and a frustrated response from the BMW mechanic who acknowledged that virtually all new local UK GT owners had moaned about the throttle/fueling, I have news.

I am told that the issues are being worked on as we speak and that mention of new plenum chambers etc..has been made by BMW. There has been frenzied activity at dealers changing sensors etc..as well, in an attempt to sort it.

The mapping update apparently due end August is not the only thing they have had to contend with.

In other words, it is being taken seriously and they will take a broad approach to putting it right.

So there is hope.

The big mystery is why US owners havent't made a concerted moan about these issues. Could it be either:

a) the engine setup may be at variance due to different emmission regs?

b) the type of roads being broader and straighter and possibly better surfaced, haven't led to people being so concerned.
(what would an average speed be in the US. Even though you haven't such a high speed limit generally, I would be suprised to find average speeds are higher)
