I'm persuaded that a K75 might be the bike I need for reliability, economy - and higher speed than my Himmy 450 - for long distance tours. I initially thought a K75S might be suitable but suspect that something with higher and wider bars would be better. Not an RT however. It's a bit too cumbersome.

Mileage is not an issue provided the bike has been well maintained. Provenance and history is everything. And price. And ...

So what's out there?

Who and how did they persuade you?. They are NOT a dis-similar animal to the K100 , don't be fooled into thinking they are a wee light thing compared to a K100 , and that they will do 70 mpg , etc etc. Nice bikes , quite a sweet engine, but ..................

The are lovely & smooth, a bit sluggish though.

Ah kent that Alan!

Like I said, a good combo although no lightweight. A LOT lighter than the K11RS I was mulling over!

My favourite patrol bike out of the 'R' and 'K' series we had, although the Norton Interpol rotary was fun to ride.
Ah the Norton Rotary :D I think it was mine that was featured on Bangers and Cash .... it was written off underneath me. Mind you I wrote the car off as well :D

I would have said a BIT lighter .... vs a lot. Have not looked at figures , just going by feel. I had the RT version for a bit, but it's still 40 yr old tech ... probably a bit older , and at that age , things start to expire (ref recent "Family" 1985 , K100RT , died (1st time ever essentially) on route to boat ... to France)

there is a red one with low miles on market place ,comes with the rt and the rs plastics ,at the moment its being sold with the plastics removed so you choose what you want , i will see if i can find it for you

I’ve only had a couple of 75s and and a k100.

Not a massive amount of difference in weight but noticeable. The 75 is a LOT smoother. MPG I recall was didn’t impress or disappoint. At most I could get just under 200 miles before reserve fuel light on a single run from north to Cornwall out of the rt tank. But usually 155-160 before fuel light. K100 pulled like a train, and handled like a tanker.

However when it came down to it, my R80 was just more engaging and fun to ride. Lighter too.

Out of my s and rt, I preferred the rt.
however one suggestion if are looking for something cheap, reliable with a great mpg that is no nonsense and easy to maintain (first bike I’ve known that is easier to do tappets than the airfilter ) the the NC750 is hard to beat. Except from the lights. Most thing can beat an NC from the lights. Brilliant. Motorway cruiser though.

You may not be inspired to keep it clean as much as a K though. And the K will put up with a lot more abuse weather wise too. Even with a few decades under its belt.

However I do really like the K75 and the build quality on the later ones is considered to be most excellent.

You def need provenance though, I agree with you.

Why not have a look at AustinW V85, sounds like what you need and a good price.

I think a Suzuki Burgman 650 would be exactly what you are looking for PP 😃 Great for the city and a long ride out to the country or per chance Europe 🇪🇺
