K850i Vs Nokia N95

phones

Not tried the sony but used the nokia, DO NOT buy it, the phone is fine but batter life is crap less than a day if you actual use the feature you bought it for.
GPS dosent work if the keyboard is shut, wif is a bit hit and miss, and the construction is very cheap and plastic.
If you want a robust phone with all the bells and whistles then I can recommend the HTC Kasier or vario III, the gps is great but it windows mobile based and you have to like that style of smart phone, I do and its the best phone I have ever used.

couldnt agree more. Got the N95 in april or may - basically the week it arrived. Am now on my 4th replacement. Had it for about 4 weeks. Keypad slider already feels gritty and apparently cannot be cleaned - except by an authorised repair place (big bucks). Battery life is OK - but only if you turn off everything. Then I get about day and half - two days. Software is very unstable, menu system locks up and is not smooth at all. Had Nokias for the past 15 years. Will not be getting another one.

Only plus side is that the phone cost me £80 on my contract and I can sell for about 2 times that on ebay.

that's what my friend said. he made the shop take it back as unfit for purpose & got SE850i.

Interesting thread, cos I am looking for a single replacement for my Tri-band phone and Xda II.

I'm looking for phone,e-mail,internet - and heard that the Nokia 95 was the "dog's todger". :nenau

Am now considering the iphone - the only downside is the lack of "PC passthrough" (Using your phone as a modem for your laptop)

So.............. is there a phone that isn't the size of a PDA that will steer me away from an iphone?

Al :D

Had a Nokia N80 and changed to a Sony Ericsson K850i for the same reasons as you-bored with the N80 and I was due an upgrade, all Nokia N series seem to suffer from poor battery life 1 day was the norm for my N80 2 days if the phone wasn't actually used a lot
I'm happy with the K850i,battery life is improved, great camera facility and as a long term Nokia user I'm even getting on OK with the Sony Ericsson menu system-although texting was a challenge for a couple of days ;)

02 orbit/T mobile MDA Compact III? I'm very happy with mine, but it might be due replacement soon. The GPS is very good imho. :thumb2

I have a K810i on O2 and was given an N95 as a free upgrade last month. Tried it for a few days - camera is brilliant, very good as an mp3 player, worked well as a modem, but satnav so fiddly that found it a real pain to use, and as a phone it was crap. I found it too bulky, didn't like the feel of the sliding mechanism which made it feel cheap, found I was charging it every other day when I only need to charge the K810i once a week, and after using the Sony for texting I don't know how anyone can use a Nokia, it is such a pain! Also doesn't have a torch on it - not a big deal but I have got used to using it every night after parking the bike and it meant I had to carry a separate torch with the Nokia, which was very annoying!
In the end I have gone back to the Sony, and put the N95 on ebay - got £275 for it which will cover my mobile phone bills for the next year :D

had nokia's for ages - but my Motorola L7 is amazing in comparison

6 days battery life before charge - all the bells and whistles
- motorola phone tools on the PC - mototunes for music

i like it :thumb

O2 Orbit is good... I've a demo one (I work for O2) great sync with outlook of course and the GPS works well. We've a lot in use running applications for field workers engineers and they stand up very well

My personal phone is an N95... No complaints great camera

phone email and web access

as I said in my earlier post, if you want e mail, instant messaging web access built in gps, etc then go for the HTC Kaiser aka mda vario III, I have had mine for a month or so and it is a fantastic phone I get high speed net access, 1.7mbs which is as good as I get at home on my desktop, the software is very good. Battery life is reasonable at about 2-3 days but that is actualy using the features. Only down side is the headphone socket as it uses mini usb and the headphones dont lok in place but I use a blue tooth headset and an IPOD to play music anyway.

I did find that battery life was not brilliant the first couple of weeks but I think that is down to the fact that when new I was constantly playing with the thing as the ''newness'' wore off and I actualy just use it and not play with it, the battery life has settled down to ok now. It will take the new 32b it hdsd cards so 8gb is not a problem, all round a cracking phone, IMHO
