Katoom 950 Adv bike - how good it really is

Is it just me ...

Shows how well you can really ride a KTM 950 Adv and how much more potent it is than any GS

... or are there some flaws in the opening statement ? While the clip shows some very skilful riding on a KTM it doesn't appear to show any GS's being ridden, which hardly proves the point.

Rest assured that I think the KTM (as shown) is a hugely capable off-road motorcycle, especially when fitted with what look like tractor tyres; however I think it's largely down to the skills of the rider because I could make that KTM (or the little stroker) look unwieldy and naff on the smoothest of non-tarmac terrain

My point is, that the stock 950/990Adv seemsinfinitely more able to cover ground far more quickly offroad than any road orientated GS

On the road though a GS maybe superior to a KTM Adv

Its time for a bit of this (I so regret selling mine:tears)

Two fecking stickers?

Of course that makes it a GS, I can't believe I've not seen it before. Now that I look at it, it's EXACTLY the same as a GS!

The front end, the chassis geometry, the lightweight bodywork, the large tank, the winglets and the big protective screen ............. Need I go on?:blast

Right I'm off up to my shed to convert my Aprilia RSV Factory to a GS with a couple of stickers :eek

Yet it does kind of prove the point, where are all the Videos of the TKC clad GS's being ridden in similar fashion?.................

.................There aren't any:nenau

It's the HP2 prototype that's displayed in the BMW museum in Munchen.

My point is that the HP2 is a GS, albeit one under a different name for marketing purposes only :thumb2

A telelever GS is never going to outride a ktm on the serious stuff because of the limits of the system...thats why they brought out the HP2 so it could go up against the competition on a more equal footing.

The pic just shows what BMW were thinking before the marketing wallahs got their pencils and BS calculators out to brand it up :comfort

An HP2 is a GS in the same way that a 950SE is the same as a 950ADV then?

Just about the only component that the HP2 shares with the GS is the engine and Box, ALL the other components, including the chassis are entirely different.

Next you'll be telling me that an RT is the same as the GS just 'Marketed differently'

Utter drivel!

I actually think the SE and Adv are pretty close... but I could be wrong

Even the swingarm is longer and engine is even missing one of the balancer shafts to help spin up faster. They're really not related in any way other than marketing.

That is the truth - about the 950 capabilities, not the defensiveness! At least not me anyway :D

You want me to go to the quarry tomorrow to get you some pics?!?!

There's just no pleasing some people!

:D

12GSA...............that would be good:thumb

In all fairness the Vid in Post#1, I think is awesome (so is the pilot) and shows the capability of the KTM Adv which is it would appear to be far superior offroad to a GS, albeit the roles are reversed on the road with a GS coming out on top..................it wasn't about denegrating the GS, but it's weight and suspension are no match for a KTM Adv offroad
