I know its a bit early in the year to be thinking about heated clothing but i wanted to ask if anyone has experience in using the Keis kit??

I want to know how you have gone about wiring it up do you run the cable from the power socket under the seat and then run this to the controller and then use the controller to power gloves and jacket??

Im planning on running the bike over the winter and thought this setup seemed decent. Gloves and jacket.

Thanks
Mark

I used a Keis heated bodywarmer (previous generation) for a couple of winters on my 800GS and it was really good. It was a few years ago so I can't remember whether it was wired to the battery or power outlet...either way, I know I never had any issues with adjusting the temperature or with cables getting in the way. If I were to ride regularly through the winter again I'd definitely have a heated vest and gloves. Last winter I tried on some Mobile Warming kit (vest and gloves) and was impressed with the quality and fit, but didn't need to buy so can't vouch for its heating ability.

I started a few years ago with a heated fleece liner which fitted under only one of my winter jackets(bulky)
then i bought the wife a medium sized heated vest with FREE controller which i now use under any winter jacket,
Also i really enjoy wearing under my leather jacket in the spring & autumn,
connected straight on to the battery, so i have two heated sockets & sat nav coming off it, using slightly longer
terminal bolts.

I bought some Keis kit last year.(may have been year before actually)

I think it's poorly made, badly designed, overpriced and generally shit.

The materials, IMO, are substandard, not fit for day to day use (which after all, it will get if you're after all year round winter heated kit) and will cease to perform fairly rapidly.

The wiring system inside the kit is, again, poorly designed, weak at the points where you need it to be strong (eg where the wires and/or connections will get tugged a lot) and the so called waterproof plug connectors are shoddy.......weak, don't make proper contact and far too easily disconnected in 'normal' use.

I suspect that the Keis range was designed by an electrician whose experience was probably limited to the front desk of a local Maplins, supervised by an accountant who trimmed everything down to the lowest possible cost and NONE of the design team had ever ridden a fucking pushbike in the autumn, let alone a Motorcycle through the depths of winter.

I bought it, I regret buying it and I shall never buy any more of it again........The only reason I haven't sold it or binned it is because I've modified it, strengthened it and made it work for me.

There are FAR better heated vests and heated kit out there, and although theu may cost a bit more initially, it will be worth it.

Keis is shit, IMHO.

I have the full heated jacket ie with heated sleeves etc. My only found fault is getting at controller when under my outer jacket. I have pulled the controller out of its connection on the odd occasion, I cured by zip tying the connection. Probably needs an extension lead and I may do this prior to next winter.
Would I purchase the same again? Yes.

Wired direct to battery with fuse in line with no problems.

Hope that helps
Steve

I had the Keis vest which was fine, no problems and worked well. Replaced it with the jacket because my arms still got cold and after wearing it every day through two winters (i.e. The six months in this country when it is not warm) have found it to be great and would recommend it. I fitted extension lead and stuck controller to side of tank with some Velcro several years ago and has worked fine.

Did have inner gloves but couldn't get on with them, just found the two gloves thing too fussy. Also have inner soles but have to be riding long way in very cold weather to bother using them as keep feet very hot!

ive had the vest but moved it on and brought the jacket. its been brilliant so far.......... the only reason i moved to the jacket was because to use it i needed to remove my jacket liner. because of this it made my arms to cold so the jacket was the better option. for me the only negative is the controler needs to be set everytime its pluged in.

I've had two sets of kris insoles which both failed after a short period, also have the battery powered vest which is better than nothing
Now use the Warmnsafe stuff which is brilliant as is their customer service

Warmnsafe gets my vote, excellent customer service as well, not the cheapest but very thin, comfortable, warm and toasty, in fact sometimes to warm so I have to crank it down. Heats the back / chest / arms / collar .......top banana

I have the Keis body warmer and I love it, I taped the wires up with electrical PVC tape on the joints to ensure that there is no damage caused by the fact I always get off the bike and forget that I am plugged in...!!:blast The body warmer I found very comfortable and most of the time it is enough to warm you up without even been plugged in. I found in general that I only needed it on in extreme cases (Below 3 deg) and I don't think I have ever used it on the high power setting. I have owned it since 2009 and it still works just as well as when it was new, I can't see a reason that you would use it daily anyway unless you're wearing the wrong kit, though I find it is comfortable to wear and thin enough to keep under your jacket ready in case the weather changes.
