I am departing in July on 8 week 8,000 mile trip through Balkans, across Turkey and thru Azerbijan to Baku on the Caspian Sea. Then taking ferry across to Turkmenistan following part of the Silk Route with most easterly point being Tashkent. From there back thru Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine and Eastern Europe. I plan on camping in Europe and staying in modest hotels in the eastern sectors.
The broad plan is to ride 250 miles per day for 4 days per week with 3 days off for sightseeing. It's a tour not a race. I shall be riding a BMW F650GS. I'm sure it would be much more fun with a companion to share the experience; so if you are interested please contact me.

Such a shame to be so close and not go via Dushanbe, pick up the 'M41' keep on down to Khorog and follow the Wakhan Valley then turn north to the Pamir Highway, Sary Tash and Osh etc.:thumb

Unable to join you full trip (however much I'd like to), but depending when in July you are departing I may join you for a few days as heading to Austrian Alps then. :thumb

Your comments are greatly appreciated. All advice is welcome. Nothing is set in stone but I have set myself a general plan which involves a degree of selection. I'd love to visit everywhere but that is not possible. Thanks again for your response.

Yup,the M41 is a must but make sure you take the M41 as if you take the M40 instead you might end up in Banbury !!
