Is there such a thing as an aerial cable to connect the aerial to the radio so the radio can be mounted in a convenient position, and the aerial in a more effective position?
And if there is, where can I get one?

Cheers Tim

Fanum, head, nail.

Wideband 70cm amateur radio aerials will do the job, but use of an external aerial leave your bike open to seizure if the Radio Communications Agency, Police, or virtually any other statutory body (up to and including the Milk Marketing Board) decide you've been too naughty.

Much better idea to use CB radios. More range, £15 for a license, bolt whatever wherever you like :thumb

I'm told by my mate who rides surveillance that a ground plane aerial hot glued to the back of the number plate is the way to go

...........................apparently

surveilance for who pizza hut ??

or they kitting there own bikes these days?? :D :D :D

Tim, if you are talking PMR then you legaly can't alter the antenna, but you can make it work a bit better by mounting it in clear air.

Yes Noddy, mines a Kenwood 3207 and a bit bigger, I'll try and find something to use as a holder unless RAM do something suitable.

Hi Prul, welcome to the madhouse. Tis a waterproof Otterbox, perfect for camera, wallet etc. Costs about £20.00 delivered to the UK.
Can't remember where from at the mo, somebody will be along in shortly with the details.

Noddy - I've just bought a Motorola Handset - looks a similar size to the one you have mounted...what are you using to mount yours?

Anyone else able to tell me where to get a decent mount for the Motorola unit...?

Appologies for the reply delay Currymiester. :thumb

Ok, my radio fits into a very heavy canvas belt holder, made by............

I nodified a plastic business card holder to hold the holder and then cable tied the two to the bars. Has lasted so far well over 12000 miles.

PM me your postal and I will send the canvas holder to you as I don't use the two way anymore.

He's a liar. He keeps lollypops and yorkie bars in there in case he meets any young people  :D

Dead simple, I tore out Cuddly Kens guts, dried them for a couple of weeks in the sun, then twisted them into strings and using an ancient Indian technique formed a shrinking, slowly tightening tourniquet that clamped it tightly to the handlbars.
