Hi Guys my bike is 6 weeks old 350 mls and I went to fill it up for the second time tonight and I have had a big problem trying to get the flap open, same thing happened last time, anyone else had this issue, I have to apply a serious amount of force pushing down on it before it eventually opens.

Yes, I had the same issue on my 2017 r1200ga. Took it back to the dealer who replaced the electronic lock trigger mechanism under warranty- no further issues.

It's booked in for run in service on 11th and I'm off to Poland on the 18th

Are you trying to open it correctly as per the manual? Once I've switched my ignition off I've never had a problem opening the fuel cap, though I've found it does help to press down on the cap when both opening it and closing it after.

I would hope so it's my 4th bmw with keyless!

You might want to try backing off the allen screws around the cap a little to see if that helps. Sometimes they are over tightened which makes the cap difficult to open / close

Haha, sorry, as you said it was the 2nd fill up on this one and you'd had the same problem last time I thought it was worth asking. I've seen elsewhere on here that if you get desperate and it won't open you can still access the tank by undoing the torx bolts round the filler cap. Sounds like it's a dealer jobbie then as you've already identified. Good luck on your trip.

Thanks that's exactly what was wrong with it!
