Hello guys,
Couple a months ago I bough my dream machine R1200GSA LC.
It's 15 reg and was bought as approved bike from Wollaston BMW, Northampton.
Bike has 8000 miles on the clock and only one key plus service key.
I do ask for another key but I was told keyless bikes are supplied with one key only.
I belived till yesterday when my mate bought his bmw 320 keyless as well, with two keys.
Is it true what they told me?

Sorry for my poor english but i still have lot to learn

One main key and one plastic back up key with my 2017my GSA Triple Black.

My keyless 1600 was supplied with the same two keys as stonehenge *.

I can't see what useful purpose a third key would serve.

* Obviously not the very same keys, as he lives miles away, making it very inconvenient to share.

You have the spare plastic key. It will start / run the bike and unlock the panniers.

How many keys do you expect to lose or damage through the lifetime of relationship with your awesome steed?

PS If you ask your dealer really nicely, they may do you a spare. Perhaps even for free if you are a regular customer. It costs nothing to ask. Failing that, kill them all.

In the past, BMW only provided one key with new bikes but if asked BVM in Stroud provided another telling BMW that the customer had complained. They now provide two for both cars and bikes. They used to provide a small plastic key which could be kept in a wallet but I didn't get one with my last bike

I don't trust the key provided to stand up to the rigours of opening dirt encrusted pannier locks. Fortunately BMW supply a key without transponder. Part number is 51257688726.

Dealer should supply gratis if requested.

It's hard to accept that you could spend £15k on a new bike and only get a spare key if you complain.
So if you are a mug you get palmed off would appear to be the rationale

Is the plastic key entirely black plastic including the prong? That does seem poor if so, I don't think two identical ones u could use daily is too much to ask.
