Keyless technology has just made the news.

An old thread resurrected but heres my story.

I chose keyless on my 2017 GSA Triple Black. Brilliant idea as I ride all year round and its a pain in the ass at petrol stations in Winter.

Much better with keyless as I just dont have the hassle with ignition, fuel caps etc.

Now.... last weekend I went out with my mates, one on a GSA 2013 model with panniers. The perfect storm happened with a series of accidents.

1) He accidentally left his key in the top box.
2) Whilst the group were wondering around the bikes during a rest stop, one of them accidentally bumped into his bike while squeezing through a gap, which we subsequently found had bent his ignition key still hanging out the top box.

I sat on my bike while they tried, very carefully, to bend the key back enough just to fit the ignition and get him home.

Have to say I was glad for keyless right then.

i think the keyless is great too. But i am now carying 3 keys but very content with that set up and wouldnt change it !

1. main fob zipped in to useless pocket on rukka trousers never to be removed.
2. plastic spare with chip on a safety pin inside internal jacket pocket thats never used
3. key blank cut to suit gps ans luggage kept inside satnav case in topbox. If im leaving bike i always throw gloves etc i to there and lift key and lock it
4. job done , great set up for me

I'd have gone around to every individual there pointing to my trouser pocket and asking them to guess what I had in there...

But that's just me. I like keyless by the way. :thumb2

<<snip>> just get the seat off to access its diagnostic :blast

Seat off? that would take a lot of time. it is much much easier, just pull the bit of plastic covering the battery off. Viola - the diagnostic port is exposed :)

Nah... much easier solution to that.

Just sit on the keyless bike you want to steal and wait for the owner to come back to it.... while spamming the 'go' button until he's in range to fire it up..

You'll know who the owner is... the one yelling and running towards you.

Ha

only thing that cant be stolen is anything with foundations. They are all bikes, over 95% of them stolen are wheeled away or put in a van.

At the end of the day, keyed or keyless if they want to nick it they will. the best think to do is put as much in there way as possible and hope they pick the poor sod's bike beside yours instead.
