Keyless

So I emailed the MD of BMW U.K. And as expected he has delegated it to one of his team, they have stated contact will be made with the dealer, I have responded that it has nothing to do with the dealer it's a corporate decision, I also enquired why bikers are the treated differently to the people buying cars.....I did mention the fact that both my 530d and M235i both came with two keys, so perhaps that may help.

So I got the same response from the social media team previously mentioned . So I emailed the M.D. and I have a second key on order foc. The dealer needed a copy of the email and the parts department raise a job on the system. Apparently it doesn't matter how many dealers complain, it has to come from the customer. It's the only way they will take notice. So £165 saved

Have you got MD's email address so more of us can complain and save £165? :thumb

Keyless ignition is comming as standard now, I didn't have a choice unless i wanted to wait another 3 months.
I was wondering if one of you clever chaps are able to 'do' a letter that the appropriate bits, name etc, can be filled in then sent off to BMW. It is important to have the right wording to make the right people take notice.
Or perhaps a group letter with a list of names/reg nos, a bit like those gov petitions that seem rather popular at the moment.
Unfortunately my creative wrighting scils have been exhausted typing this.

Easy, BMW could simply sell a R1200 GS TK which is the twin key version and costs £165 more than the regular model.

But to be fair all bikes and cars should have two keys.:hide

:thumby::thumby::thumby:

Perhaps cars should come with two because cars are often shared between two people with each having a key, but bikes tend to be used by one person and there is an emergency key for when you lose the fob, until you receive the replacement. I guess they realised most people never use the second key, I certainly haven't.

Mine is in the PUMA system apparently so no turning back for them...

Thanks for your info Dwaind
I contacted the CEO Graham Grieve this morning and was passed on to a Ben Perry who unfortunately gave me a ((sorry I am unable to help you))
I did ask if I could post his e-mail address on a forum and he said it would be OK.
ben.a.perry@ bmw.co.uk
Hope others get a better result.

My wife and I, when touring, carry a key each.
When taking the luggage into a hotel it takes more than one trip, and, as we don't want to leave anything unlocked this requires us to have a key each.
When on boys and toys trips we carry each others spare keys in case of idiot behaviour of loosing them or having them stolen.

I pointed these points out to Ben Perry this morning and also that I was not aware until after purchase that the bike only comes with one key.
I also stated that it does not inform us on any documentation or on the BMW web site that the keyless model is only supplied with one key.

I was wondering if one of you clever gentlemen could compose a letter that the less literate of us can use as a template to send to the MD at BMW UK as I, like others, would like to complain to BMW but do not know the right words to use to make them pay attention.
It might be worth a try but it looks like Dwaind triggered the shutters.
