Keyless

This bike came with a folding key for the keyless, and a plastic key. I've never used the plastic key. Any more keys, and I'd be even more confused than I am now.:D

No, I meant on your previous (non keyless GS's) - wouldn't you have just got one 'proper' key and one plastic key..............as in, since around 2007 WMB stopped issuing two (proper) keys and it has been ever thus regardless ?

i know, they pay extra to get supplied with a KEYLESS bike, then complain when they get a key with it as its not enough !

And then... they want to buy the "hill start assist" option because they don't know how to start off on a hill!!!!:mad:
Real f****** tossers! :beerjug::beerjug:

And some only change their LC for that very reason.

Are many Tesco's built on an incline ???

2011 twin cam one metal key and one plastic key which hasn't been used in the 6 years I've had it.

Maybe on the GS, but my XR came with 2 metal keys. I'm off for a lie down now.

My daughter had her car keys pinched out of a locker at her university swimming pool. Apparently the thief or thieves were going round the car park with the remote looking for a car to respond. Luckily she hadn't parked it near by. Even luckier we had a spare remote key fob supplied with the car by Ford at the point of purchase at no extra cost. The other beauty of this spare remote fob was that I didn't have to grovel under a wheel arch to look for the responder point as well as having to push the accelerator to get the car to start. It worked exactly the same as the key fob that was pinched. Isn't it great that some manufacturers actually make key fobs and spare key fobs user friendly.???? And to top it all the Fiesta that the fob was for cost about £3,000 less than the GS Adventure with all its "comes with" accessories.

That is exactly what I am on about but some people on here just can't grasp it :nenau

I agree that the fact that only one properly usable key supplied is not enough. I would not dare to use that plastic emergency key to remove luggage or satnav or even to pop seat open. Two keys is a must. Someone needs to start a petition.

due to the poor response from BMW.. It may be better to embarrass them by showing people on Youtube the faff that has to be gone through with the Wallet key. Grovelling on the ground in a wet day in the dark looking for a responder point under the wheel arch which is covered in mud, at the same time trying to start the bike with the switch on the handlebar. and compare it with how simple it is using the ONE key fob supplied... only a thought

It be easier for me with my supper long arms but for some short ***e it be a right nightmare. I have sent a reply to the email I received this afternoon. I shall see what will the response be to that one. I pointed out to them, that a £4400 Honda scooter with keyless system does come with two proper fobs. I wonder how many fobs are supplied with the latest keyless KTM bikes?

The answer to email from BMW is very poor and hardly an excuse or an explanation. They are literally "fobbing" us off, I am not on twitter or even have an account, but I am tempted to open one just for this exact reason. To name and shame them into some form of understanding, I remember buying a Vespa back in early 2005 and that came with "master" key and two standard keys. Master key was identical in every way but grip was only the thing that is different in thickness. That BMW wallet key is as brittle as an age old artefact in my honest opinion.

3 of my bikes....... don't have keys

Does it bother me?

Personally it doesn't bother me either what your bikes have or haven't. What bothers me and others is that we spent allot of money to be given just one key.

First world problem and complain to BMW Finance as it's probably theirs, by rights:augie

Andres, is that for the new keyless system?

No, normal ignition. But, as has been discussed WBM have only supplied one key for the GS for the past 10 years or so, this is nothing new and peeps kicked off back then when WMB stopped giving two keys back in the day...........

I'm sure Nutty will confirm the position on keyless if he ever gets his 1290 :D

Oh don't be mean to Nutty, he's just like me all hyped up about the new bike :D

I had my last (approved used) GS with keyless too, dealer (salesman) had a second fob in his drawer, he actually rang me up asking if I wanted it, I said sure (believing that they left it behind during PDI) he then said it'll be £195+vat. I'm sure you probably know my answer to him. I felt like pulled the price out of the blue. Consequently he probably still has it I. His drawer :blast and I no longer own the bike as sold it privately. :D
