178 miles today.
I, originally, (since last night anyway) intended heading west to Livorno but "Ventusky" showed thunderstorms heading inland from the west (this morning). I decided to head back to the east coast and hope to get there before the worst of the pissing rain reached me.
Bike and rider manged to escape Perugia intact and proceeded to head for Terni then L'Aquila and on to Persara. Sticking to "SS" roads I went between, under, round and over a lot of lovely big hills (c. 3000ft. up). This included a couple of high plain rides at over 3000ft.
I then thought to head slightly north of Pescara as I'd be cheaper and less busy. Well!
Riccionne, Misano and Cattolica were very busy with tourists last weekend even though some hotels were closed for a season gap (I believe).
Where I am now (Montesilvano) has a lot of restaurants and hotels closed until mid or late June and here is not busy with tourists at all. To that end most restaurants, as is their norm, don't open until 7 or 8 PM!.
Way too late for me so I have made alternative arrangements. (photos to follow from phone).
Tomorrow I intending heading up the east coast to Ravenna, or similar, and then I've got an easy day to play about in the hills before heading to MUGELLO!!!!!!!!
