Kick stand play

I have just acquired a 2010 R1200GSA. Before I had a 2005 GS. The kick stand on the 2010 model has play in it resulting in about 3cm movement at the foot when it is in the up position and the same in the down position when on the mainstand.
Is this normal ?
I have fitted a Camel Toe on it and the play allows the side stand to catch the exhaust heat shield when going over rough ground ( or normal " pot holed" Derbyshire roads).

Mine also had excessive side play, yesterday I fitted a set of replacement brass sleeve bushes for the sidestand in the frame, plus a new steel bush for the spindle to get it back to as-new. It has reduced the play from around 30mm to about 10mm. I think the extra weight of the GSA plus the increased leverage due to the taller/longer sidestand has an effect.
