Hi lads,
Any of you used this ferry service before ? I might be going over to Norway and thought this might be my best option from Rotterdam.

Cheers Doc

Yeah I used it two years ago with my lad on our Norway trip. Colour line is the company we used and our boat was Color Majic. More like a cruise liner than a ferry really. I think it was about €1000 for two of us, two bikes in an outside cabin including meals. It’s around 20 hours for the crossing. I would other with the meals if you are not a large party as there are plenty of restaurants to choose from on board.
We met up in Hamburg as i didn’t want to be racing the clock getting from Rotterdam to Kiel in one day. It’s in all likelihood possible but a hold up can be very stressful and perhaps expensive if one misses their boat.

what was the other one... Immingham to Kristiansand or Gothenberg... it's two days and abit days on a very boring cargo ferry with limited space... but is does save on the miles...

mental note to self Gothenberg port to return to UK isn't the port in Gothenberg... go figure... but you can smell the place from a mile away... the cargo port smells of fish and piss...

how delightful....

Can you sale from Immingham, I've looked at the crossing but it all seems to be freight.

Been that way for a while(at least when I've looked, which is an arse ache)I've toyed with the idea of trying to get me Sprinter on as a commercial but haven't actually inquired. Will be the land route for me next year then.

Cheers Glen. I would have a stopover on my way from Rotterdam then i am not rushing.
Well it isn't cheap. Meals outside cabin £909.00 quid

But further to ride but could you go from Hirtshals in Denmark?

We came back from Norway last September from Kristiansand to Hirtshals. Think it’s only a 3 hour crossing but a further south from Oslo.

Looks like there is routes from Frederikshavn direct to Oslo and Larvik as well.

Yes been up there to get to Iceland and the Faroe Isles and i am only going one way.

It depends what you plans are for Norway (one-way?), but Hirtshals - Kristiansand works well & is probably far less expensive. The fast cat on this route was built in Australia IIRC.

Maybe stay O/N in Husum, near the Danish border, for a bit of that old Germany feel (Hotel/brewery Theodore Storm) . Otherwise, in Denmark we stayed at Arhus, a lively town, or Alborg (Radisson Blu).

Have you missed that @Doc shuttles a bike around Europe for a client?

My guess he will be in Oslo long enough to drop the bike off and get a taxi to the airport!
