Another volume question I am sorry to say. Basically I have read with interest all the "how to increase my volume "posts. and am quite happy that all the necessary volume controls, master and otherwise on the Zumo 550 and rider on the autocom are at their max. Passenger is turned down and auto fade is on the middle setting and vox at its least sensitive on the 300 kit.
GSrich can possibly answer the point I need. I was at the show last week on Trade day and you or a colleague fitted the speakers into a C3 helmet for me so I am pretty sure they will be correctly fitted.
However when riding with ear plugs I have all volume controls at maximum(two on the 550 and rider on the 300), and I am struggling to hear directions on gps at speeds over 60. Music is ok just. Without ear plugs things are fine. Yes the speed sensor is fitted by yourslves and is working fine.
My question is if I open up the 300 can I increase the audio output adjuster on aux 2. If so which way to turn it.
I am using bluetooth dongle on the aux 1 for phone and isolated stereo lead on aux 2 for rest. I tried an ordinary non isolated lead instead and the audio was increased by about 20% which was perfect, and there was no interference, but am not sure whether there would be any long term damage if I stuck with that. Both autocom and zumo are bike powered. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you turned up your master volume on the Zumo which is seperate to GPS and music volume controls?

As for opening up your unit the volume levels are controlled via parts on the circuit board which would need to be unsoldered for a different part to be soldered on so its not a quick and easy job to carry out.

Your query regarding the isolated lead; you don't need to use it, it is only required if you are getting interference, I use the non-isolated music lead that came with the Autocom 300.

Thanks for the info guys. Yes GS I have found the master switch, I just saw the audio output adjuster in the instruction booklet and thought that may be the answer. What actually does that do?
If I use the non isolated lead that would be the answer. My only doubts Trebor are whether there is a possibility of damaging the Zumo or the 300 kit if things go wrong. Is that a likelyhood.

No, it is my understanding that the isolator lead is only to get rid of Ground Loop interference that cause noise on the audio. Not all installations suffer from this interference, it depends, mainly, on where the equipment is mounted on the bike and where it is powered from.

I have a similar set up to you, Autocomm 300, Bluetooth dongle in Aux 1 for phone, a non-isolated lead between the Zumo and Aux 2 for the music and GPS instructions, I have the Zumo Navigation volume set to 100%, Zumo MP3/Audible volume set to 80%, and the Zumo Master volume set to Max (I think) and I can hear both music and GPS at speeds well above what we are supposed to do in this country, in fact I reckon I will hear them up to max speed ;)
Oh, yes, I use a Schuberth C2 helmet.

The master volume is set with three bars left to help turn up everything on the GPS unit, you can then tweak the MP3 and GPS volumes seperately to your own liking. This will help raise the volume levels straight away.
