Wanted Klim Marrakesh Jacket Medium

I have found this thread most useful for considering if I want to get one. If someone gave me one, I'd accept it, to go with the Marrakesh trousers I have. But, I keep reminding myself that the Marrakesh is, for me, really only sensible when there's settled weather. I find it too much of a faff putting on / off the layers needed for changes to how cold / wet it is.

YMMV.

It’s perfect for the pussy fair weather rider though. Like me for example 😬
PS. Continental holiday jacket of choice too.

Each to their own.

Having done trips in full goretex when the weather is in High 20°s mid 30°s, I’ve learned to understand that it It is easier to “faff” taking layers off, than it is to be hot, sweaty and distracted by being in that position for hours on end.
You dress up with layers in the morning when there is a bit of a chill in the air, then a couple of hours later, when you’ve pulled in for a coffee (chances are you’ll take your goretex jacket off anyway) and take off a layer, whilst you are waiting for that coffee, pack your layer away. Same goes for the next stop and the one after…. Reverse order as temps get cooler. It isn’t really that difficult, it is just a mindset than need retraining. It is no different of you pulling over for a piss or to take a picture. A “faff” for those in your group, but a necessity in your mind.

I personally think that I am done with Gortex. I do not commute on the bike and for trips away, layering just works for me. I just look at the weather a couple of days prior to going away and pack accordingly, then during the tour, I look at the weather again and dress accordingly for that day too.

I personally prefer a heated vest to layers anyway. Keeps core warm in the morning (and therefore extremities if you know how the blood flow thing works) and simply unplug en route. Being a minimalist, I hate laminate etc too. Goretex is a rip.🤔

The waterproof layers are the biggest fall down for me, I seem to have perfected putting them on as the rain is stopping, and not putting them on in time :(

Something tells me that you are a type who is reacting to sudden changes rather than being proactive.

After questioning the additional benefit of a Zephyr , versus a liner that I already own , a Zephyr, in blue, has unexpectedly arrived , as a present from my daughter ;
It’s smart enough to wear in an evening out and it indeed packs small. I’m looking forward to testing it with the Marrakesh .
I agree with what’s said on here; layers are the way to go and so quick to change when needed .

I’ve had mk1 & Mk2 Marrakech jackets. I sold the size XL mk1 as I’d Lost so much weight it was ludicrously big. I got a petrol blue mk2 in a large. It is much slimmer fitting but I miss the two chest pockets and would go without the gimmicky cuff pocket on the left arm. The change in colour seems to be hugely beneficial in the sun too. We are in Corsica as I write and we’ve had temperatures of 31c the last few days. My wife has a black mk1 Marrakech and she seems to get hotter far more quickly than me judging by how quickly it comes off when we stop. Either that or the Mk2 has that cool black treatment.

Whatever, they are brilliant jackets and I wear mine year round. It’s waterproof enough for light drizzle for half an hour or so and isn’t so open weave you feel a draught just lots of, I dunno, freshness. It’s how the marketing bollocks behind Goretex would have you believe Goretex is going to be like to wear. It’s soft, comfy, doesn’t look like a bike jacket and with the back armour out, bug splats notwithstanding is good enough to wear down the pub.

Bought a new one in green. Great jacket, the only niggle I have is the arms are a little bit too long but I can live with that.
