Hi folks, I am importing an HP2 Mega and need to change the speedo to mph for DVLA registration. I have a replacement speedo face in kmh/mph (from www.newtacho.de)
Has anyone experience of how to remove, dismantle the instrument pod and change the speedo face ?
Thanks
Mike

Isn't the instrument cluster the same as the 1200GS?

If so, look at this:

The text is in italian, but if the pictures are not self explanatory, I can translate it.

I just recently imported an HP2 Sport from Italy (and still waiting for the reg number...). Regarding headlights and speedo, you are dealing with VOSA/VCA not DVLA.
They are a bit... well... hmmm pedantic.

In my case I had the digital dashboard reprogrammed in miles from the BMW dealer in Rome where I bought the bike. Once the bike was in London, I replaced the headlight with a new one from BMW (450 quid!) had it installed when the bike was MOT'd by a third party mechanic.

You'll have to send over the garage invoice where they specify the work done to adapt the bike to UK standards.
They refused my first application because the description wasn't clear enough (the mechanic just wrote "headlights changed to UK spec").
We amended the invoice specifying that the entire headlight was replaced with a UK one with the beam dipping to the left and they where happy with it and I got my mutual recognition certificate.
In my case we, for the speedo, we also had to specify that was permanently reprogrammed by the dealer though a standard feature of the bike.

For everything else, refer to the thread in the "source of all wisdom" section ;)

Just double check that the details on the invoice are up to VOSA liking... maybe give them a call and read it out to them before submitting.

Well... waiting for pizza delivery (talking about stereotypes...)...

Translation including extra steps not nedeed on the megamoto:

1) replacing led dashboard 1200gs
2) before the cure
3) disassemble windscreen
4) remove the three "segers" (plastic nuts?) that keep the instruments tied to the frame
5) pull the instrument cluster to remove it from the frame
6) remove the connector pressing the sides
7) put it on a surface, flip it over, unscrew the 5 screws
8) remove the screws and proceed opening it starting from the bottom. Pay attention at the top bit where there is a self locking bit
9) remove with care the dials using a flat screwdriver and a piece of paper to avoid marking the plate. As soon as you hear a faint unlocking noise, just remove the dials with your fingers

the following is extra bullshit to replace the leds.
