"KNOCKING! sound at idle?

Ive just started to notice a "knocking" sound at idle on my 1150gsa, hot or cold but it stops when I pull the clutch lever in???

Its booked in to Williams BMW this thursday as the bikes running a bit rough, its still under warranty hence my returning it to them.

Im curious as to what it might be?

Mine does that too..panicked at first, so asked the 'Collective' and the consensus of opinion was not to worry about it,so I haven't....until your post!!!

my current list for them to sort is:-

Bike is running “rough” at idle, starting to stall at idle,

Surging/hesitancy at motorway speeds when accelerating

When hot or cold “knocking” sound I haven’t noticed before at idle……pull clutch in and it stops!!

Play in rear wheel bearing?? (that’s what it feels like when holding at quarter to three) and moving wheel

Drain hole on fuel filler cap blocked and cap fills with water.

sound like a few of your problems are due to water in the tank. injectors prob need to be cleaned out. as for the 'slop' in the final drive, well, that's what happens when the bikes ridden hard with a lot of engine braking

UPDATE POST WILLIAMS VISIT

Okay as promised post visit to Williams report

All my problems were down to water in the fuel, due to the drain hole in the filler cap being blocked. They had to darin the tank and clean everything out. Bike is now running fine again.

Wheel bearing tiurned out to be "bearings" that need replacing so its booked to go back in a few days. All in all not such bad news and free as the bike is still under warranty.

My bike is still under warranty!!! But Roy is the man who will be doing the 24000 service beginning April (already booked in with him)
