Kove quality

I bought a Kove 450 from John. Got it two weeks ago. All good so far.
I took his test bike out twice. I didn't like the low speed fuelling. The new batch that came into the country in June have a revised ecu map and the fuelling is great.
I wanted a dualsport bike that was fun to ride to the trails and then be over biked for green lanes 🙃 it's ticking all the boxes so far.
Hi Karl,
I missed you when you rode over last week, I was at the ABR.
Max said you called in, I hope he looked after you.
Call in when you’re passing mate.
Cheers.

Yours looks great 👌👍

Went out with one yesterday. Coped very well with a rusty rider who hadn't ridden for 25 years and nothing fell off*.

*Except the rider.

I have one available if anyone wants it, and don’t forget we have a demo to try.

Took it out this afternoon, for an hour on and off-road from Motorrad Konnection
Nice bit of kit for a 450cc single and really smooth too, no vibes
This one had a full Ti race exhaust and went like the clappers
Cruised easily at 80mph indicated (dual carriageway) and no buffeting, even with a peaked helmet
Very light and precise off-road
Suspension excellent

Impressive

@johnnyboy that tempts me to go and try one, I assume this is up in Malton at Motorrad Konnection. Can I just check, I can see a few lanes just south of Malton, is it those ? (I've got access to the green map, and OS maps so can check on there, but useful to know which ones these are).

Is that an Uncle Wang’s rear rack & pannier frame ?
its the Ali Express one, they had a few quality issues with the first gen ones, mine fitted perfectly, holes lined up, for the money its a good bit of kit, also the rip off scott damper was from Ali, once set up it worked superb at a quarter of the price

Whilst out on the wing last Saturday at Clapham, got talking to a chap who had a broken down Kove off road bike. A new one at that, 24 plate.
His clutch was US.
today, near Ulceby there’s another one at the side of the road with the same fault. I’ve only ever seen 2 and they are both Brokendown. Won’t be buying one of them then.
I am surprised that you mention build quality on a BMW forum, in light of the tails of woe including final drives, loose spokes & leaking calipers. Having worked for BMW since 1978 albeit on the car side, I think BMW should be ashamed of their build quality in light of the purchase price.

I remember in the late 70's when we used to refer to 'Jap crap' & look at where they are now. I think Kove should be applauded for what they are developing, a full rally bike at £13k when a factory KTM is probably close to £45k.

I own two KTM's & will not be buying another when you look at the debacle surrounding camshafts on the 790 / 890 models.

In 2023 Kove got 3 bikes to the finish in the Dakar at their first attempt, you don't do that with poor quality.

I wish them every success, and look forward to them shaking up the pricing structure of the European manufacturers.

Mine is at nearly 4k miles and all seems good so far.
I did the uk ACT last week and loved it.
I've had the gear lever rattle lose and need nipping up, and an inner tube puncture as it wore on the rim lock. I'm still on the stock tyres.
It's a hoot on the road, it's a bit of a beast off road, but I'm new to off road. It always wants to go faster than me.

I will be on the Kove stand at the NEC if anyone wants to come for a look at the bikes and have a natter.
John.
