Searching through old threads brings nothing conclusive, looking to change units on the digital part of my display to KPH due to moving to France later this year and exporting my GS.

It cannot be done via the menu buttons. I was told by the dealer when purchasing my 2017, that it could be set by their technician (when plugged in to their computer ) if requested. Well, I have, and it has not been done. Apparently their computer/diagnostics have been updated and they can no longer access this part of the settings!

So, has anyone recently had their display set to KPH? If so by who, and where etc.

I am not interested in reading KPH on my sat nav, I am aware that KPH is displayed on the inner dial of the analogue display and dont care, that is not a long term solution that interests me.

Hi there,

Had mine set from MPH to KPH by Bahnstormers in Alton in late February this year...

Great, thanks for reply. Awaiting word back from two separate dealers to see if can be done local(ish)

Its a shite feature of an otherwise great bike!

Sounds like it been forgotten about and you reminded them of it once they done the update. So quickly where is that get out of jail free card? Worth trying asking another dealer to solely perform such task.

Or why not wait until you are in France and ask a french bmw dealer to do it?

I can order drinks, pay bills etc but not excited about what the response may be to my poor French! Plus I would prefer to have it sorted before hand.

Er........how can I put this - you are intending to live in France permanently? When it comes to the lingo, they appreciate a good tryer, particularly when money is being spent, but pretend they can't hear otherwise. OK Dick Strawbridge gets by, but he has a fix-it & camera team around much of the time.

Anyway, give CS at the mothership a call, to see if you are being given BS by your dealer, as I understood that change is available. Otherwise you could rely an your SatNav pro tem

GS911 can do it.

before living in France, you must know that there is a projet to limit 50 mph everywhere on secondary roads
and they forsee to have plenty of controls.

I can’t believe they didn’t make it possible to change this in the menu how stupid is that as most of us go abroad on our bikes

Yeah, seen the 50mph bullsh1t. Just need to take care, the French take it as point of pride to go as fast as possible on country roads though. We will see, might get kicked in to touch like some of the other laws that just get ignored.
In truth though, we have the same issue here. A 20 mile road near to me used to be mostly 60mph except through a few villages. Now its mostly 40mph. Draconian and silly.

But, with 3-4hours to Spain and a bit more to Italy or Germany....who gives a damn. Plus great roads that are not full of tail gating Brits on my new doorstep...

Its easy to be sensible in the obvious places anyway, and go harder where 'conditions' are better.
