What a small world, I moved from the North East to Correze a few months ago! Near Meilhards, south of Limoges. Maybe see you around sometime?
TFT?.. ok.. looks like I can't do it then...
If you have year 13 onwards it can be done by configuring the user display.
Ian

OK I misunderstood his requirement.
You have provided the instructions for setting up the digital speedo, which is what I thought Beaver wanted.

I can order drinks, pay bills etc but not excited about what the response may be to my poor French! Plus I would prefer to have it sorted before hand.
The analogue dash is a bit of a let down in my opinion. Shortly after buying my bike last year I picked up a mint Nav V from eBay and I find it transforms the riding experience. It changes the many and varied speed display options to kph automatically (and changes "speed camera" to "dangerous road" or something) as you cross the channel. Put the dealer kph conversion charge towards a Nav V or VI would be my choice.
Automatically? I didn't know that. I've been setting mine manually in "Units"

Agree with you there Ian, but I think beaver wants the speed to show digitally in place of the gears, not sure how that is done, and onboard computer pro needed I think, not sure if beaver has that.

If you have the 'on board computer PRO' as I have, this is the way to go about it. It worked for me!
- Ignition on/bike stationary.
- Press TRIP repeatedly - until the top displays SET UP ENTER
- Press TRIP and hold - to start the SET UP menu
- Press TRIP repeatedly - to scroll thru' menu items to reach SET UP BC Custom
- Press INFO and hold - to display 1st menu item SET UP BC ODO appears
- Press TRIP repeatedly - to scroll thru' menu items. During this the bottom line indicates where the menu item currently appears on the display i.e. top or bottom
- Press INFO once briefly - to change your choice to TOP or BOTTOM
- Press TRIP repeatedly - to reach EXIT menu item
- Press TRIP and hold - BC CUSTOM will appear
- Press TRIP and hold again
- Press TRIP repeatedly - to position your choice at the TOP (in my case RANGE to empty)
- Press INFO repeatedly - to position your choice at the BOTTOM (in my case SPEED actual)
The bod wants to re-register his bike in France, as he’s going to live there. As he worries about asking a French dealership about changing the readout to KPH, it’s going to be no less daunting an experience explaining to Monsieur MOT et Licence that his GPS box of widgets conforms with French type approval.
If he waits until next March, we’ll be out of all this bollox and be able to tell the EU to stuff their silly rules as we Brits (no matter where in the world we are) are not part of them. We stand alone and can demand things.... but only in English.
Ah mes ami, vous ete un imbecile!
I speak some French, enough for insults (^^^^)and ordering coffee, getting directions. But, if BMW France dealerships are anywhere near as bad and underperforming as here in the UK...zut alors!!
If only my UK speaking citizens (at BMW) could have sorted out my request a few weeks back. Oh how I may be longing for UK competence....?
Cheers, Smogbob. I might PM you at some point for help, thanks. I was being a bit flippant, tongue in cheek. Got some basic French at the moment and doing some lessons, will need some time there to get fluent. Just would have liked to sort the issue here.
BMW UK really are a bit crap, the only answers so far are 'computer says no' and 'new display'! Not mega help full.
Sounds a bit of a piss poor dealer that, do you want me to email Frederic at Limoges and ask him about doing it there.
I can order drinks, pay bills etc but not excited about what the response may be to my poor French! Plus I would prefer to have it sorted before hand.

I would appreciate that Smogbob, I have just emailed, but my French may be a bit 'interesting'!
