Kriega tank bag

Will be interested to see how you get on with this as I had been eyeing up one of those :thumb

I’ve got one, they work ok, had the same problem, the fix was to move it further up. When you look at it, one side is rounded on the inside and the other has a straight. Lay it on the "tank" with the straight bridging section over the black key area, almost touching the key, should sort it out, i think, or did i turn it around???

It would be great if someone could post a photo (one just with the harness and one with the US-10 attached) once they've got it fitted... interested in the setup myself!

Not sure this answer will be much help, but I had the same problem on my 660 Tenere and mounted it the other way round with the quick releases at the handlebar end.

The bag fits either way round on the harness

Now when you mentioned this, i went and had a look if i had the straps on the bike, seems that i have also turned it around with the quick release to the front.

everywherevirtually, i set the straps (as per below) here and from memory they run over the seat.

Will try remember to put it on tonight and take a couple pics, Must remember, must remember, must remember!

Thanks for the feedback guys. For those that dont want to spend the £15 you can also just take the original straps that come with the US-10 tail pack and place them under the faux tank. Just undo the screws, slip the straps under and put the faux tank cover back. Job done :D

As promised, pic's of the tank harness on. I did turn it around. I have not got one of my bags at the moment (being borrowed out) but once i get them back, will post a pic. Hope this helps. I would add that the US – 10’s, perform 99.9% well in terms of being waterproof. Must just remember to close them properly (wrapped around tight). Sure the US – 5 and US – 20 bags also work ace.

I was out at lunchtime snapping away too :D

I have a slightly different configuration now which still needs some tweaking but I'm quite happy. The bag was quite empty so it tended to flop around a bit.

I bought the Kriega tank pad thing and ran into the same problem regarding the plastic buckles being in the wrong place for the design of the bike.

As a result, I cut them off and attached some large key-ring style rings to form an anchor point for the mounting straps. These sit nice and flush and stop the seat top edge from being pushed out.

On fitting, it was obvious that the straps were too long so I cut them shorter and melted / stitched the ends to stop them fraying....They are then threaded through the anchor points provided under the seat.

Job done!

Just ordered a Kriega Tank and US-5, hoping it'll arrive for my Trip to Tipp this weekend :beerjug:

This looks really good, well done, might do the same if you don't mind.

Be my quest...

Here are a few shots of my Kreiga gear....2 x 20ltr and a 10ltr for good measure.

On my first outing with these bags I rode for over an hour very heavy rain. Earlier in the day the met office classed it as a "Severe Weather Warning"....Anyway, eveything was bone dry when I got to my destination which I thought was pretty impressive considering the circumstances.

My Kreiga Tank arrived this morning :JB

One question - how did you attach the front of the adapter? Around the headstock or some other way? Any one got any piccies?

It didnt work around the headstock for me. It was interferring with the steering so I attached it to the frame tubs that run back from the headstock.

It's a fiddly task, dirty and dark down there. You will need patience :D

I took a rather simpler approach in the end. I reversed the bag, attached the loop ends to the frame just below the seat (as in one of the earlier pics in this thread) then stuck the velcro pads to the inside of the front plastics on the left and the right and stuck the velcro straps to those. Not a great explanation so I will try to take some pics later. I might change it in the future, but I needed to get it on tonight as I am off to Ireland tomorrow :thumb

fits fine to 1200gs and 1200gt

have the same set up on my 1200GS and 1200GT - works well on both, fits in a couple of minutes....
