KTM 1190 Adventure demo ride

You're having a laugh aren't you :eek

The bike's only been out a couple of hours and 'everybody you speak to' says it's unreliable :blast C'mon, hit me with it, what are the multitude of issues that everybody is talking about :nenau

Also, dunno what experiance you've had - c'mon, tell us - but my local dealer Trail Tech are one of the best dealers out there that I've had the pleasure to deal with, regardless of brand.

Sorry I mean't KTM in general.

Every KTM that I have been touring with has broken down, bits fall off,

and I even have a KTM myself with the dealer service being as I said - crap unless you are buying

BMW GS is hardly a paragon of reliability, is it:rolleyes:

I think they KTM is certainly no worse

Even the new WC has devloped a few niggles, so far

I have NEVER had any issues with my BMW's ( only had 1200 unlike yourself) and done quite a few 10,000 of miles all over Europe

Just my experience and observations;)

If they couod sort the fuelling out on the 990 I would have bought one. Just don't like the new bikes looks at all, it seems a bit too soft looking. The toilet looks nicer imho :blast

Fuelling on my '12 990 was very good, no low speed stumbling at all.

However, the head buffeting and fuel economy finally did it for me. I would have had a 1190 immediately but didn't gel with it on the testride:nenau

Happy with the toilet though, but as miles pass it's become apparent it's taken the GS in a different direction from past GS's.

Stu

What's the latest on your new bike then?:augie:D

Test rode a 990Adv a few years ago and the fuelling was bloody awful. I have been reading a few reports of the current 990SMT which I really like having only sat an one and the reports suggest no fuelling problems whatsoever.

Rushy,

I've had an SMT for two years / 15,000 miles now, brilliant bike!

Nothing wrong with the fuelling at all on mine, you just need to get used to the "instant" power delivery, the pick up and response from the engine is immediate to your demands.

My thoughts when I first bought the bike :-

Have you seen the write up it gets in this months bike magazine?
They really are great bikes and a whole lot of fun, ...go for it !! :thumby:

The latest issue of Bike mag tests the 990 SMT versus the Ducati Hyperstrada and Tiger 1050 Sport.

They hate the Ducati, like the Triumph but LOVE the 990 and it's the winner.

The 1190 SMT will be the one to have when it comes out !!!!

I was on the same ferry to the IOM with them, i'm a Bike subscriber, as you say they loved the SMT :thumb

Smt

Definitely one of the best bikes I've ever ridden :D
I bought an adventure as I couldnt quite afford a SMT but the adventure is plenty fast enough and a bit more versatile.
I love the 2013 colours but sticking with the adv for now maybe keep it and get a SMT/SM as well when I'm a bit more flush :blast

Network

Yes KTM make super machines but are let down in th UK by there awful dealer network.

Three of my mates use p and h Crawley and the level of sales attention is truly shocking service not much better.

Only bought there bikes there as there is no where else local.

So if you want KTM don't go to P and H. Unless you have loads of spare time as you needed circa 5 visits to get noticed enough to buy a bike.

By the way 2 x bought the new RC8 r and one bought a 1190 adv.

All super bikes. Come on KTM sort out your dealers.:aidan
