KTM 1190 Adventure demo ride

Well, money where mouth is and all that, I've ordered my new 1190 Adventure. :bounce1
Went for the orange option with the electronic (suspension) package, the comfort pack (heated comfort seats/grips and tall screen), GPS holder and tank protection film. It's not due to arrive for 2/4 weeks, so I'm missing out on all this fabulous weather. Still, can't wait and as I retire at the end of this month, I'll hopefully have some summer left to take a few jaunts around Ireland and GB.

Sweet, congrats :thumb:thumb:thumb

You're having a laugh aren't you :eek

The bike's only been out a couple of hours and 'everybody you speak to' says it's unreliable :blast C'mon, hit me with it, what are the multitude of issues that everybody is talking about :nenau

Also, dunno what experiance you've had - c'mon, tell us - but my local dealer Trail Tech are one of the best dealers out there that I've had the pleasure to deal with, regardless of brand.

Trail Tech? Got a link please? I fancy taking one of these for a test ride but the Sales chap I spoke to in Market Deeping sounded as dis-interested as anyone I've ever spoken to. Maybe caught him on a bad day but if that's his attitude before I've ridden a KTM I don't want to find out what they're like afterwards.

I've searched Trail Tech but it just brings up a company in America selling spare parts.
Thanx in advance.

Health to enjoy Davy, health to enjoy Mate. I may be joining the fold, I'm going to have a look at Sye's SMT next week, I have a feeling I'm going to like it - just need to find the dosh!

Cheers

Thanks, mate. :thumb2

As I said in my post, Clive, it's my (long awaited) retirement prezzie to myself. A year and a half of waiting finally over and I intend to enjoy myself for the first couple of months at least. :D

Congrats Davy from me and Carole, good to hear you are retiring lucky so and so!!! :D

That bike looks amazing. A mate of mine took one out for a test ride the other week, he has a 990 Adventure, and he said it was fantastic although as he did not get a chance to get out on the twisties he said 150bhp through the town was not ideal!!

Have fun :beerjug:

congrats on retirement, 6 years left for me :blast

Thanks, mate. :thumb2 I really hope to show you it in person at your country residence. :beerjug:

Be good to see you both if you get the chance.

Not had many KTM's here in fact just two guys on a 990SMT and a 950SM. Both ex-racers and when I went out for a blast with them all I saw pulling away from every junction was the underneath of their bikes :D

Have fun :thumb

Maybe a nice bike but

Reliability - everyone I speak to says unreliable.

Dealer network - shite to say the least - sell you the bike then kick out the door

Bollocks is the only reply to that.
There are good and bad dealers in every network, I have to say that the KTM Center in Hemel is one of the best dealers for any marque I have ever dealt with.
When it comes to bmw dealers I would drive to guildford rather than go to Sawbridgeworth who are way nearer.
I have just come back from a caracking trip round Germany/Lux/Belgium/Holland chalking up 3000 miles or so, and the 990 Adv was faultless.
Some of the 1200 GS's have a less than stellar reputation.
