KTM 890 SMT

I downloaded the KTM app to my phone & get turn by turn navigation to the TFT.
Also shows on screen when someone's calling ... but I don't have an intercom thing.
So contented with this setup that I never bothered installing the Zumo.

Yeah had it on 1290 but never used it

I've got one for the weekend 1290 in for valve checks, initial thoughts are I love it but the screen is crap and the quick shifter throws you forward when down shifting.??
I'll try to give a better update after a longer ride tomorrow.

It’s not really a screen though, is it ?
I’ve ordered the aftermarket one.
Quick shifter on mine doesn’t throw you forward. Dunno what you’re doing to get that.

Have you used a full tank of juice yet.? if so what kind of mileage from it..??
I'd have liked the 890R/S size of tank on it as that gets upwards of 240 miles

Not yet but I’m getting 65/70 mpg so that’s translates as about 240 to empty meaning 200 miles plus a healthy reserve. I’m quite happy with that.

What aftermarket screen is that please I can only find the clip on type?

I’ve ordered this one

this thread is seriously tempting me, love my 690 its such a zippy handsome little bugger, pretty sure I could happily go further on one of these though, next year perhaps...

Ok yes seen them thanks Arsey but on back order I believe until Oct ? I’ve put the £13 clip on spoiler on for now and it’s better but not perfect.

My dealer said all the bits I ordered were in stock. Mm !

No heated seat at the moment on the powerparts, I was hoping the 1290 standard plastic boxes would fit but they appear to be slightly different in there fixings.??

Yup, dealer now tells me end of October for screen .

Fitted the alloy rad guard today . What a sod . No instructions online and it’s not a simple job .

Got it done but snapped a screw whilst putting it back in so will need the thread drilling out and replacing .

DON’T BOTHER CHANGING YOUR RAD GUARD

Had the 600 mile service today and ordered the screen back order until Oct .

The rad guard is a pig did the little trim peace fall behind the rad ? Was a tank of job for me.

Not completely so got wife to hold whilst I screwed it in .

I find the gearing a bit high compared to other KTMs I’ve had so going to switch from 43 to 45 on rear sprocket .
Wanted to go down one at the front but none listed in correct size

Chopsie said the same about the rear sprocket on the 1290 Super Duke R in a vid I saw last night.
Not too sure what's on the 890 ADV, but it's spot on for me.

And.... Another One! :)

I'm loving mine. Factory Tall Screen is on back-order, but tbf I'm finding the minimalist headlight-mask quite adequate for
normal usage (no autobahn's or serious wet-weather so far) Remus can is NOT as loud as I had hoped, but better looking than the Akro.

Has anyone a link to a workshop manual yet? ;)?

I'd hoped Givi would have a tanklock ring adapter available, currently, but it seems the filler cap is quite petite, and nothing looks obviously adaptable.

Chopsie still likes it

Taking mine to Brittany on Monday to get a few miles in.

Pretty impressed with the fuel economy on the 890 .
Two up with a bit of luggage I did a tank full blasting around the back roads of Brittany and filled up a bit early as not many petrol stations around

So 175 miles with 50 left and I put in 11.7 litres so 3.8 left .
So pretty accurate gauge

Most I have seen on the 890 Adv R is 72mpg, generally about 65.
Filled up last Saturday after 250 miles. 41 miles range left & got 17 litres in ... so again accurate.

I saw Lamb Chops ride to Dorset, and have ridden one myself briefly. And I think the SMT deserves bike of the year award.
