Wrong type of oilIIRC KTM did have an issue with an oil jet being too narrow and jamming with debris from clutch wear, at least on the 790 Adventures. Lots of vocal people on YT. Think KTM refused warranty claims as they said it was user error![]()
But how would clutch debris get past the oil strainer AND oil filter? Seems an unlikely cause to meIIRC KTM did have an issue with an oil jet being too narrow and jamming with debris from clutch wear, at least on the 790 Adventures. Lots of vocal people on YT. I doubt that. Logic says the oil jets have to be positioned after the oil pump surely. The filters are before the oil pump. Maybe I'm missing something. No idea of the details but there were problems occurring on bikes used hard off road. Problems with the slipper clutch breaking up I think. There's a clutch oil jet which I guess is passed first?
Complicated by not being able to sell Euro 5 bikes in Europe after the 1st of Jan which effects the 1290's if not already registered.
There you go then. This kid is ‘the mechanic detective’. Top marks.
After all the troubles my mate had with his 1290 I wouldn’t either. He describes it as both the best and worst bike he’s ever owned. They actually bought it back off him after they failed to rebuild the engine correctly/successfully about 3 times. Amongst all that his S10 hit 100k untroubled miles.I wouldn’t touch a ktm with a 10 ft barge pole,
Their parts back up for older bikes is dire,
Essential parts obsolete and discontinued after a few years,
It’s been bad enough for the last 10 years,I’d put no faith in them going forward.
That's a good reason to buy in this upcoming fire sale, the parts backup was shit when they were north of £15k and in 10 years you would have no parts availability, so when they come down to £10k next month you have the same parts backup, basically all the shit in the warehouse right now will end up somewhere.Their parts back up for older bikes is dire,
