But does that stock comply with current emissions laws.. I think not, so methinks it’s not saleable in Europe.
Just me ‘umble observation
I wonder if this is a tactical move on KTM's part to prevent the CF 450 from undermining sales of the new KTM 390 Adventure bike? If so, it seems somewhat short sighted, given the build partnership between the two firms.
That's a pretty good point - I suppose we underestimate how much clout KTM has lost over the past year or two.they aren't in a position to be tactical. They already owe CF Moto millions and have no lines of credit for acquiring stock and spare parts for dealers. CF Moto will want a solvent partner to ride the cheap Chinese Adventure bike wave that is raging across Europe. I am pretty certain CF Moto binned KTM, not the other way around.
You may well be correct but I do know that in the case of cars, vans and trucks the EU (& UK) has to approve derogation, there has to be a valid reason and it’s normally limited to a number of vehicles that is small %age of annual sales volume and over a limited period.I think it is only bikes made this year that need to meet Euro5+
Bikes made in or before 2024 that meet Euro5 can be sold and registered this year. Expect big fire sales in the autumn.
Yes but that’s the condition that any company that wants to set up manufacturing in China is required to do ,so in some respects the greedy bastards who want to cut their manufacturing cost at the expense of home country workers serves them right when they get screwed by China .Handing over ANY intellectual property or design to China ,,, that your company relies on ,,, is a recipe for trouble !
Much of the stock will probably be off road bikes that don't need to comply with the same regs as the road bikes.I think it is only bikes made this year that need to meet Euro5+
Bikes made in or before 2024 that meet Euro5 can be sold and registered this year. Expect big fire sales in the autumn.
YepWould anyone want to invest a large amount of money in a new KTM bike now, given the recent cam problems and the threat that there may be no warranty backup should the Company fold ? I can see KTM going bust and being bought by China to use the brand name on their bikes.
I fear you're right. Such a shame - not a brand I have particularly warmed to but the rumoured 390 Adv was looking quite interesting.Would anyone want to invest a large amount of money in a new KTM bike now, given the recent cam problems and the threat that there may be no warranty backup should the Company fold ?
