I've been looking at 2nd hand KTM's the exc type,
and one thing i've noticed is the milage, some are 2-3 years old with less
than a thousand miles, which i find odd as i regularly do 100 mile outings
laning
So either they don't ride them or do they disconnect the speedo :augie

Can someone enlighten me :)

Most don't ride em :thumb

A bit like many sportbike riders that go for a ride out and go to the cafe 15 miles away and then the bike pub another 15 miles away :augie

I bought an 18 month old 300EXC a few years back. It was mint and had............................................300 miles!!!!!!

Their loss, your gain.

Beware of ex supermoto bikes though as these are usually stripped down and then put back together before selling. They run every size of engine too so check carefully. Look out for drilled nuts/lockwired bits other than the grips.

With the bigger KTM's the front wheel spends so little time in contact with the tarmac that it doesn't register the mileage....

sorry, i'll try and give a sensible answer now :aidan

If they have been used for competition then the speedo may have been removed, but if you only riding around a tight enduro course a couple of times a month your bike isn't likely to clock up the mileages you might see on something like a drz or an XChallenge? might also be a reflection that most KTM owners don't get as much time as the rest of us to ride....

I do find myself agreeing with what Flipfly says, a lot of these bikes are only used off road with owners taking them to the trails on trailers or in a van, riding them and carrying them home again.

Several people I know in the local TRF do this as it cuts down the amount of servicing etc.

Cheers

Mark
