KTM panniers for the 1190

I'm leaning that way now. Might go for andystraps frames with ortlieb bags though. Dunno really. Thankfully I'm in no rush.

My concerns with soft luggage is....no real security, can they be 100% waterproof and how easily damaged are they ? As much as a relatively cheap solution they seem to be, I just prefer the harder option.

I've been using Andystrapz Exped panniers on my 950SE since 2008 and they are unbreakable and 100% waterproof with inner bags.

Quite cheap too and look good, esp on the R :

Quite like the look of the Andystrapz (and the Enduristans ) but what is the capacity like and do they need racks on the 1190 ?

Have you decided what to go for yet Cookie?

I'm pleasantly surprised with the stock bread bins. They seem well made, nice and solid and the fixing system is a cinch. Not tried them in proper rain yet but they look well sealed.

The only draw back is there is a good few inches between the opening 'door' and the extremities of the panniers so getting in one of the fitted bags (which will be bigger than the aperture) when full looks like it'll be a bit of a tussle............

I'm leaning towards the andystraps bags, but they are not cheap to get to the uk.

Cookie, me too.
Maybe it could help to split shipping costs if you are interested.
I don't fancy the rigid box option.

shipping was £70 with a total of just over £500 including the dry bag liners

i'd like a pair, but it sounded like a lot for a pair of soft panniers to me :nenau

i don't actually need them at the moment, probably not until next year, so i'm in no rush. kinda hoping that the 2015 model would have nicer boxes that would retro fit my bike. one of the spy pics hinted at that, but the latest official pic shows the same touring panniers as now.

.......................

If I hadn't got the 'offer' on the bread bins I reckon I'd have gone for them, they do look very well thought out and put together.

The cost depends on how you look at it I suppose; it's a lot of money for soft luggage but cheap compared to boxes and frames (or the bread bins) so my twisted logic would go for £500 worth of luggage on the basis that it's good quality, looks good on the bike and would be pretty much what I wanted.........I'd see no point in getting something £150 cheaper that didn't 'quite' meet all of the above :)

or not....

Thanks for the enquiry.

I’m sorry but we’ve not got these in stock, and we don’t have plans to bring them into the UK in the near future.

Apologies I can’t be of more help at the moment.

andystrapz used to list a second uk supplier who i also emailed - they didn't bother to reply, and are no longer listed on the andystrapz website.

I'm considering selling my Nomada cases.........£595 ( cost £770). Shipping either at cost or maybe use the excuse for another spin over to the mainland.

Strange, I was looking at their website only a week or two ago, and they had the Andystrapz and Enduristans on there.

they have some bits, but not the 1190 specific racks and asymmetric bag setup.

What have you decided to go for instead - the KTM bread bins?

simple enough and best pannier option for these bikes for me. instructions could have been better and lower fixings still need some thought, but overall pretty pleased.

while i was there i bunged a hella socket into the side panel :)
