Mega event

Big thanks to Pthagonal for all the organisation and for a major event ( I'm sure next year's will be easier ) and much thanks to Philip Gunn, Jimmy Ellis and others for the off road - the R80 is once again clean and I've found that you can ride off road with panniers, just remove them before driving through stone walls).

I think an off roads skills course may be necessary before tackling the STEPS and a set of handlebar risers.

Saturday was fantastic, starting with the dolphins in the bay below the campsite ( how did you organise that) but I think we only had the three seasons - no snow or ice.

Again thanks, especially to the catering crew for the enormous burger, best eaten by dislocating your lower jaw.
Sorry to have missed the evening but thought to get home before the hurricane - didn't.

Nice to have met the Baron in the flesh - hi Paul. Still strictly deaf from Tuned's exhaust and the doctor says my eyesight may not have been permanently damaged by his shirt.

Pthagonal, since we were all very, very good boys and girls, can we go again next year and can we bring some of our friends and the odd (very odd) tosser - (if you know him, you'd know why).

Please, Pthagonal, please we'll be good, I promise.

Metal Man !!

Just brightened up your picture for you :beerjug:

Nud1e

You seemed to be doing quite well without an off-road skills course...

Luke

Not sure what the sign said - I only noticed it when I started editing the photos. People were too busy to 'notice the notice' on the day I reckon ;)
See you there next year !

Ferg

It said "Take No Ice Hat". (It had been modded from "Take Notice That" The following track is on Farm Land, the Owner accepts no liability for loss or injury to those travelling on it etc - big issue in Ireland at the moment apparently)

PS - I'm still here, and the sun is shinning, the sky is blue, and I'm off for a swim in the sea. Might even sign up for "Surf School" this afternoon. Hell, I might just become a beach bum and never come back.

Lucky s*d, torrential rain here. Journey home was horrendous, worst riding conditions I've ever experienced. 20mph & Bike would suddenly go sideways when it hit standing water. I wanted to call it a day but Georgia insisted we pushed on :o

Thanks Fergus;)

What did the sign on the gate say ?
Apparently it said "THESE WALLS SHOULD NOT BE KNOCKED DOWN UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES WHATSOEVER." :D

ride home

i left lahinch at 6,30 on sunday evening..

rode to limerick, past numerous bikes out on some rally ..

met phill gunn still working driving his yellow recovery vehicle..

i then rode from limerick to dublin, sort of meandering through the midlands and had the best spin in ages..

clear twisty wide roads, nice new tarmac.. no cars for ages.. amazing and a beautiful sunny evening with a sunset i should have taken a picture of.. there was a 15 min stretch where i didnt see a single car and never dropped below 90 even on the corners.. :)

warm, bright sunny evening, was still wearing my sunglasses at 9ish..

when i stopped to make a phone call earlier, a car stopped straight awaya and out hoped a guy, thinking id broken down.. cheers mate whoever you are.. nice to see that..

the last bit to dublin was dark and the roads were busy but it went fairly fast and i was at home for 11..

i think i felt about 2 drops of rain the whole evening..

so for eth poor folks who went home early to try and beat the weather..

sorry...

i told you, dont believe the weather forcasts.. they are nuts..

:-)
