Has anyone here had LAMPR! display when connected to heated gear? Do you think there is a connection?

I took a ride on weekend to some high snowy elevations. A few times after stopping for fuel or food this display appeared. It went away after a few miles. However after washing it at the end of the trip this display remains and will not go away.

There were some threads on here about corrosion at the rear tail light. On another site there have been many cases where this came about using heated riding gear. Others think it has to do with a dying battery.

Mine is an 06 with 26000 miles and just serviced. My connections are made directly to the battery and i am using a 9mo old hawker battery. (it seems to crank fine even in the extreme desert cold. I am very impressed) I have not checked the connections to the rear tail light but everthing seems to be working OK. This was the first time I have used both the heated jacket and pants at the same time and I have never seen this display before. My manual says nothing of this fault code.

Please enter your thoughts on this issue. I would like some input and education before taking to the dealer.

Regards,

Jarid

that indicates a rear bulb failure, if the tail light fails, the can-bus system will bring on the stop light at a lower voltage to simulate the tail light. its like a backup for the tail light. first remove the bulb to check the filiments by flicking your finger against the glass, if it looks okay then check the connection at the back of the bulb holder as its exposed to the elements.
lampf is a front bulb failure.
having heated gear could possibly confuse the selfcheck on start up if its turned on or if there is a poor connection on the rear lamp.
hope this helps :aidan

OK that is news to me. I did not know in the event of a rear light failure the canbus will keep it working by altering its voltage. As i said before everything seemed to test OK at the gas station but this is not the case. I will replace bulb and hopefully that is the only problem.

Replacing the bulb did not fix the problem. I took out the old one and it appeared fine. I replaced the bulb anyways. Start her up and still I get the same display readout. It will not go away and the bulb is now constantly on high power. I have to resort to hand signals for braking now.

I looked in behind as best i could and did not see any corrosion at the terminals. Some how i think this is still related to the heated gear i was using last week. Strange as how it was connected directly to the battery terminals though.

Anyways if anyone has found similar results or know of solution let me know. I will be taking the bike in to service department to get this rectified.

I had the same problem last week. LAMPR was coming on intermittently. I removed the bulb, cleaned the contacts amd replaced it and now all is well. Or at least it has been for the past 500 miles! :)

Please do not take this as an insult but if the brake fillament is on constantly - is the bulb fitted the right way? :augie

Or more probably the CANBUS thinks the small fillament is out and has the large fillament glowing to give you a rear light.

I'd pull the fitting again and re-check there is no short in the holder inside and outside (had that before) and double check the new bulb isn't duff on one fillament.

Good luck:aidan
