Lands End

I'd be up for it, apart from the fact I'm picking up my 12GSA sat with no miles on it... Count me in for next time!

On a side note, I'm still looking into a PMR setup with my Autocom... do you have anyhting like that? just wondering as its a waste of money if people I can go riding with don't have the same...

Cheers,

Gareth.

In order to be there at a reasonablemtime we will need to leave very early as there is only a single carriage way most of the way there..

Its got a little better in the last few years and its 80-90% dual carraigeway after you leave the M3 all the way to Penzance:thumb2 even the bit at Indian Queens has been bypassed.

I wish I could join you but have to work all weekend:(

Shep

So glad we can make it ! Meet you all at the first services on the M3 after the M25 @ 9AM - Yes ? Any need for a red carnation sose we don't miss each other !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D:thumb

Hi Sani

Looks like i'm going to have to pass on this ride now as i'm expecting a new fridge to be delivered. Poor excuse i know but I've been waiting for it for over a week and it should have been delivered today..... They've just cancelled due probs with the truck.....FECKING CURRYS..... 2 times canx now:spitfire:spitfire:spitfire:spitfire:spitfire:spitfire:spitfire.

I'm sick of eating canned food.....

If I can arrange any earlier i will. If i'm not at the garage by 0900 leave without me.

Chris...

Hi Cardigan,
Well it seems like its just you and me as everyone else is scared of a bit of winter weather. Just prepare yourself and get plenty of rest. See you Saturday at the first petrol station on the M3 off the M25:thumb

Thanks Steptoe, done this journey loads of times but never quite as far as LE !! Just been preping the bike and nicking Karens (thats my better half) heated jacket connecters. Anyone know why BMW don't heat the brake/clutch levers aswell ? Come to think of it, nobody else does either but I don't know about you lot but I like to have a couple of fingers over both levers most of the time. Gap in the market for someone ? Look forward to meeting you Sani. Meet at the bike bay outside the main entrance, then at least we can stand inside with a cuppa if we need to wait for one another. I'll be there at 9/9.15, if not, there's a problem. Don't know if it's o.k. to post contact numbers on these sites, bit new to this technology ! :nenau :thumb

Nice! Lookin forward to the rest of the piccies then. You must be shattered all that fresh cool air and distance. Tell me Sani, do you always carry all your luggage about, do you never take it off as I know both times that we have met you have been fully loaded and in your pics you always are, just curious thats all ? Does everyone always keep it all on, I personally prefer to ride without my panniers if not needed, am I the minority?

Hi ya Sani, been off line for a couple of days. My computer has decided to spit the dummy. Lost all my info on it. All it's worthy for now is the internet so will have to go shopping in the January sales. Might try an AppleMac this time. Sure I picked up the bug off the net, though !?! Oh well, least they can't get anymore info off me, now it's all gone ! Not sure how to pass on the picture's but will find out. I'm a biker not a boffin, you see ! Did clean the bike off after we chatted, felt a bit guilty leaving her caked in salt. Scotoils FS365 is a good one for protecting against salt and general cr#p. It just sprays on after you've cleaned and dried the bike and it basically coats everything in a light wax. Specially in those hard to get at area's. Washes of with water, so you need to use it fairly regularly. Most good bike shops stock it - plug over ! Soooo, John O'Groats this weekend or what ? :thumb2

Ah crap, I wanted to do a ride to Lands End for ages, now I've moved to Australia for 3 years you are all off on road trips. Glad you enjoyed it, count me in if you do another one in 2010.

After living here for 3 months I realise that distance is all relative (this is a very big place) and the beauty of UK is that you are never really that far from anywhere. You also have access to some of the best roads in the world, especially if you go cross-country via A and B roads rather than dual carriageway.

FWIW I'd rather be riding in the UK in the cold than here in Aus in the heat, its only springtime and its in the mid thirties. Straight roads, no hills, very boring. Did I mention my GS is still tied up in customs.....

Please post some more pics for us homesick/bikesick ex-pats.

Hi Pukmeister, Good to hear from you. Land's End was great. What a shame you are sitting in OZ basking in the heat. Try going north of Queensland up to Maleny for a bike ride. It cartainly is'nt flat there . Great biking roads. Take the main road up to the Sunshine Coast, from there on it is absolutely great. Wish I was there. You ar'nt missing much here. Weather is awful as always. Think yourself lucky.:thumb2
